I think its because if you were pregnant and taking the pill, the hormones could harm the baby and cause a miscarriage. Apparently some women keep taking it in the first few weeks before they know theyre pregnant, but as long as they stop straight away when they realise it wont cause any harm.

You have to start taking the pill on your first day of your period and you wouldn't get a period if you were pregnant.

so like if you didn't want a baby it wouldn't be a problem then!?
It won't harm a baby. But there's no point in starting to take birth control if you're already pregnant, is there?

If you arent pregnant it wouldnt be a problem. If you were pregnant, it would harm the baby. But as you start the pill on the first day of your period, you would know you werent pregnant as pregnant people dont usually get periods. There are always exceptions to the rule before i get negged...

If you think you are pregnant, even if you don't want it GO TO THE DOCTORS! Don't think of this as an easy way out! If that is why you are asking....if it's just curiosity then well...

actually it depends on the pill. Dianette clearly states that you cannot take if there is any possibility you could be pregnant. The reason being that the baby could end up being born deformed. It states this in the booklet that you get with it

If you are new to the pil you are adviced by your doctor to take on the first day of your period for 1) they know you are not pregnant and 2) so you are protected from pregnancy from the first pill you take. If you dont take it your first time on the first day of your period then you are not protected for at least seven days and some even advice to use extra protection for the first month

It depends what pill you're on. Some pills will harm the baby. Others dont have any effect on them. I know mine didnt.

It depends on the person but sometimes the pill can make you even more hormonal. Ive been alot more emotional since being on dianette. For others the pill have had a good effect on their moods. depends on the indivdual and the pill i suppose.
So when do you start taking the pill I'm on now and was going to go to the doctors to go on it tomorrow as i thought you had to take it the day you finish?
