Have you undertaken a fitness plan before? If not you really should consult your doctor who can help you work out what foods to eat more of, and which to avoid.

Weight training will help.

It's common sense though really, I'm happy with my diet, I think i just need to drink water and eat less junk food.

3km a day sounds like quite a lot to start out a fitness plan with; unless you run quite regularly.

I don't want to patronise you- for all we know, you could be an athlete! However if you are just starting out running then I would try a shorter distance first. Perhaps run somewhere where your distance can be measured (a running track would be ideal- some parks mark on temporary ones in grassy areas) and run until you feel uncomfortable. See how far you've run and gradually try to improve on this.

Also, like BlackHawk said, it's best to ask a doctor before embarking on any fitness plans. They can give you lots of advice, which will specifically relate to you and your personal needs. For example, I've got bad joints and I suffer from shin splints, so my doctor would probably instruct me to avoid running on hard surfaces like roads.

Good luck! Well done for choosing to do something in the summer
your don't want to start doing too much because you'll get tired and bored way sooner and most likely give up. Stick with what you can do first and get used to that before you begin to increase your length.

I'm a decent runner, I did 3km on tuesday (on treadmill) and it took me 18 mins, then i did the same again today in 17 and a half minutes, so I'm already improving.

As far as my target of losing over a stone is concerned, do you think my plan would be adequate?

It depends how much you weigh now. But I managed to lose over 1/2 a stone in a month by jogging and swimming so it is possible in my opinion.

Boosts the metabolism which means fat is burnt more quickly.

Also, it will help you to keep any muscle you have; you want to lose weight in fat; not muscle/water.

You will only put on weight doing weight training provided you are eating a surplus of calories; as long as you're eating less calories than you're burning, doing weights is a good idea.

really depends how fat you are tbh..... if youve got lots to lose, then you could lose it easily
