Get a revision guide (York Notes are great) and look at the kind of themes covered in past papers.

Get a revision guide that covers all the main themes and techniques Steinbeck uses. Also do lots of past paper questions and get your teacher to mark them. Worked for me, I got an A* and an A in my two Of Mice and Men modules/controlled assessments.
