LSE Application Question - Personal Statement Format (Clarification)

I posted this on an earlier thread, but I thought this title was more specific

I am currently working on the online application for LSE and I am confused about which file format to use. On the Personal Statement page it says the following "At this time, we do not recommend uploading PDF format files. Check here for recommended file formats." Then when you click the link it states:" It is highly suggested that PDF's (created in Acrobat 7 and earlier) are uploaded, preventing any compatibility issues."

Can I upload my transcripts, personal statement, etc. as pdfs? Has anyone else uploaded them in Adobe X? My transcripts were sent to me in Adobe X and I don't have Adobe 7 on my computer. Can I upload them in Adobe X?
