It may sound silly when I ask but is working out twice a day bad for health? Im free since my alevels have finished and dont really have anything important on my list now, coming back from my vacation. I thought working out more would do me good but is it bad interms of the time gap muscles need to relax etc..

It should be fine, athletes do it. Use one session for cardio and one for weight training. Or if you want to do weight training in both, do upper body in one and lower in the other. That way they can rest.

Yeah that sounds good. Right now I want to get toned up fast so i was thinking of how long my cardio session should be, plus what about the diet if im working out twice

If your looking to bulk up, working out twice is not recommended. Work out enough the first time round so that you feel as though you have ripped your muscle, and then just eat eat eat eat eat eat eat. As nutrition will bulk you up - not the actual workout itself. Get proper sleep as well, as it is during REM sleep any real gains are made.

You should work out once, but keep going, e.g. relaxing 45 seconds in between and keep going till you cant do anymore...

But you shouldnt work at in the morning then in the afternoon no..... or if the muscle hurts because its repairing.....

Ye best thing to do like ^^ he said is to plan out your week if you have nothing to do..

One day work bicep (nicep curls) and back (lap pulldown)
Next day Tricep (tricep extensions) and chest (bench pressing)

SO while one muscle is healing you are working the other...

^^That would only work for isolation exercises, and discounts the fact that some exercises work several muscle groups....

Yeah I know all that. Its jus that i wanted to tone up faster, but i guess il have to follow the same routine. Thanks everyone

What about the diet? My coach gave me a list of 4 meals
I never really followed it because of exams and other acitvities. Do we really have to follow the diet plan strictly. I mean can i eat stuff i like provided it has less fat and carbs content?

Its perfectly fine, infact its actually closer to optimal to train more than once a day.

hmm im pretty sure u shouldnt do weights two days in a row though. Its sumthing like that when u do work out, the muscles are destroyed as such, and its actually in the day of rest i.e. the day after, that the muscles grow. So yea do diff work outs.

You can do a split, say bicepts and chest in the morning, then tricepts and back in the afternoon. You need to be uping your diet ALOT, to make sure you've got enough calories, protein etc. Next day though you cant do the same split. Try say, abs and legs the next day with cardio in the afternoon. And to be fair your gonna need at least 1 day of to recover. and you need to EAT!!!

I wanted to increase my cardio sessions like 39 mins of cycling and 30 mins of jogging every other day. Is it ok?
Reply 17
for cardio its def fine, i've been doing 2 sessions a day for an hour and a half each time on the old exercise bike since schools out. i've just got a rower now so now doing one session on that and one session on the bike.
In theory you can do as much as you want as long as you do not over train. If you over train then thats no good because you will just feel tired and will not benefit from what you are doing.
if you're looking to build muscle, you should be working out 3 times a week for an hour max.
Twice every day is far to much and will only lead to injuries and muscle loss if anything.
