Teesside University

i can't believe there isn't a thread about Teesside yet .. i'm about to start (fingers crosses) in 2006 studying a Psychology degree ... ...

from the moment i saw the pictures of this uni i felt it was the place for me and i went to visit on an open day and it was just an all round great place!
i live in Chelmsford .. some 6 hours (at the least) away from Teesside but i can't wait to start uni life ...

so yes, write what you will in here!

yeah i will be hopefully staying at Parkside halls (from my memory as what i put as my first choice accommodation!) can't wait .. it will be great, from the moment i went to see Teesside everything was perfect and i got great vibes from the uni  Middlesbrough looks like a really good place to be too .. especially with the uni on the town's doorstep!

yea just got my results PASSED! yay! onto year 2

errr some ppl in parkside (coz its all grouped together if you do not know) are really friendly and some ppl keep themselves to themselves
the laundry room is HELLISH! so make sure your in early and dont leave things till last minute!
theres like 3 washers and 3 dryers for like 1000 ppl lol plus they never work!
the park opposite is LUSH in the summer
and we had loads of bbqs on the grass outside!
really nice year!

if you wanna know anything about the uni or boro just pm me!
well done! was it hard to pass the first year do you think?

 bloody hell lol that could be something i struggle with - i'm visualising a huge queue going around the washing machines waiting for their turn ...!

thanks i'm pleased i've found someone else that goes to Teesside  so next year you'll be staying in the Uni Managed Housing?

BBQs was a stunning idea.!

staying in teesside house owned by campus lifestyle... google it, its lush!

its alot of work, you dont get nowt for nowt at uni!

if i can offer you any advice it would be DONT LEAVE YOUR WASHING!
people throw it out and put theirs in!
i threw someones out of the window after they did this to me! stupid tw*ts lol
lol ok .. i will remember to guard my washing, sitting in a laundry room doesn't fill my head with immediate thoughts of excitement but its most definitely better than losing your clothes! thanks!

it looks really cool .. i think i saw it when i went up to Teesside actually. is it expensive? did you find it easy to find somewhere to live in the 2nd year?

£65 per week, i stalked the builders, i never looked for anywhere else because i got it into my brain that I WOULD LIVE IN TEESSIDE HOUSE! lol
its opposite boro tower! ideal spot!

omg i remember moving into my flat like it was yesterday! get there for like 10-11ish if you can!
we all went out in a big massive chain!

like i said b4 if u need to know ANYTHING just pm me

have they told you when you move in?
no i don't have it all confirmed yet .. they still have to receive results and allocate the accomodation so i don't know .. hopefully will find out in the next month

10-11ish .. thats pretty early .. suppose you have the whole day to get ready etc. .. where do you live at home then ...are you middlesbrough born and bred?!

newcastle, not that far away lol!

well i arrived at half 10, was ment to be there at 10 but forgot loads of stuff and got lost and usual first day crap!

you have to go get your keys and put your stuff in, but when i got there for half 10 the car park was already half full and my flat had 4 out of 6 ppl in it!
plus it means you can unpack slowly while listening to music (like i did) with my door open so ppl can come and say hi and you can go help other ppl...

like girls... if you havent got a gf! lol when i went i didnt have a bf and ALOT of boys helped me! hahaha was MINT!

if your confident enough try and get a group of people together to go around the whole of parkside and try to say hi to everyone, arrange your trip to the union and invite everyone!

the majority of the ppl who started off the sunday night house warming parties became the people who had ALL the parties and LOADS of friends!

oh yes i must add... DONT LEAVE YOUR CAR BOOT OPEN OR DOORS OPEN when taking stuff to your room...
I know its pretty common sense, but when I was moving out this horrible man (who you will probably see... looks abit like a junkie but he's foreign so isn't pale, wears a hoodie and lurks around) was walking around watching the cars as ppl took their laptops, pcs, tvs out of their rooms!
I stood and gave him hackeys so he knew I'd saw him!
It does make me wonder why they let these criminals in the country! lol
looks like i will be trying to get there early then! thanks for your advice .. very helpful

the first day must be pretty important trying to make new friends etc. so its important to make the effort. i'm hopefully sharing my room with someone so it should all be made a bit easier ... friendliness is the word!

criminals .. they're everywhere. lol we should deport them just like the Israelians (!?) are doing to us
Can someone just explain what Boro tower is? I appear to have missed this while living in Middlesbrough for the last 19 years....

On the other subject - Middlesbrough rocks and if you have a car, or are happy on a bus, go to places like Great Ayton. And climb Roseberry Topping. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

It's the university's main tower building, and one of the tallest buildings in Middlesbrough. :p: The tall grey one with 'University of Teesside' across the top.

I agree that there are some nice places around, though I'm too lazy to do any climbing. :eviltongu Also, Durham and Newcastle can both be reached in just an hour by bus. :p:

it wont be the tallest for much longer when they build that new student accommodation!
Im also going to Teesside Uni, studying Creative Multimedia, im originally from Redcar just a few miles from Middlesbrough, and will be moving to live in the middlesbrough area, but not in student accomodation. Middlesbrough is a pretty good place to go, and the night life is also rather good.
i've been allocated Parkside Halls  anyone else staying there? ... i'll be sharing with someone so hmmm watch out! ..

no i'm lovely really.
