Saving Private Ryan
Letters from Iwo Jima

Band of Brothers (Mini Series)
The Pacific (Mini Series)
Unsere Mütter, Unsere Väter (Mini Series) - Just watched this one recently - it was hard to find it with English subtitles (since it's German) but I really enjoyed it and would recommend it... it's not often that they make War films/programmes from a German perspective

Just googled for this - looks good! According to its wiki page it'll be turning up on BBC2 (slightly surprising for subtitled stuff) at some point this year. Will check it out when it turns up. Thanks :yy:

Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan, Atonement (mainly considered a romance movie but has elements of war in it), Pearl Harbour, The Thin Red Line, Inglorious Basterds, Glory etc are a few which spring to my mind.

Band of Brothers (Mini Series)
The Pacific (Mini Series)

imo Pacific is not as good as BoB. this is probably because Pacific follows three separate characters rather a company so i felt was disjointed.

what about you?

That movie was amazing! So interesting to see the famous battle from the Japanese perspective, and so tragic. Shame that Flags of Our Fathers (the American counter-part) wasn't as good.

Both were really good but, on the most part, I agree with you -BoB did have that sort of 'develop as a family' rather than 'develop as an individual' style of character development, if that makes sense, which seemed more fulfilling to me, as a viewer.
