Extenuating circumstances+extra marks

Hi,

I'm doing exams in Aug instead of May due to being pretty ill over the last year. They are finals which makes it scary. Ive got just 4 weeks left to revise and i'm not confident of doing well, just wondering if anyone was ever in a similar situation. Will the uni be quite lenient in marking? The situation was pretty serious. I've heard that sometimes the uni only marks you up if you are in a boundary situation? Thanks for your help.

Erm - you'll get normal marking. Mitigation just makes them aware of circumstance, it does not change grades.

I've never heard of upmarking at boundaries with out a viva...

at a level you get a maximum of +5%
I'm with Fluffy on it. My uni doesn't mark you up or more leniently because of extenuating circumstances, just allows you to resit first sit if you fail. I'm assuming they've agreed to let you sit them now because of the extenuating circumstances at the original exam time? In which case....as far as I know there is no leniency.

The thing is, I'm still not very well and am sitting them in a few weeks time. I have been informed that if i'm at a grade boundary, they will mark my papers up.

Well that's something good (not that you're poorly but that they'll mark you up if you're at a boundary!). I'm not sure what else you could do if you didn't sit them in August.
I've just finished my first year where the marks didn't count towards my degree, so I'm not sure if this will apply, but anyway-

The people I know (including myself) who had mitigating circumstances were told that their pass mark had been dropped - so we could get a mark of 35 and pass rather than needing 40. But that was it, even for a friend whose marks did count. Seemed a bit harsh in certain cases, but there you go.
