Tampons - some questions!

It's just a suggestion, and I've never been able to drink that much! For some reason, I just can't physically manage it. I don't know anybody who goes to the loo that often anyway.

If you can drink 8 pints of beer you can drink 8 pints of water lol. That what I say.

Hey

Thanks. I went out and bought some smaller ones and they are sooooo much better. I can't feel it at all now! I'm going to see how I go (about changing every time you pee) - I hope I wont have to cos I go to the toilet at least every hour and that would be silly. If they are in right, they shouldn't be affected by going to the toilet, right?! I think earlier, when it came loose, it obviously wasn't in right LOL

Thanks for all the advice x x x

I'm 18 and have never worn a tampon. I'm scared of having things inside me. Probably why I'm still a virgin lol.

i've used pads for years now. they r not particularly great but i'm just too chicken to try using tampons.

i'm bit scared of inserting them inside me do you stand up or just stay sitting lol

Basically I'm going on holiday in a couple of days for a fortnight, which will involve alot of swimming, my period is due in the second week but I've never used a tampon before. What shall I do?

It seems inadvisable to try it for the first time in unfamilar surroundings, and in a highly under-developed foreign country. Especially been's I'm extremely screamish - medical/nhs councilling. Is there anyway I could 'practice' insertion before hand without being on my period?

Thanks x

Not really. There'd be a fairly high risk for TSS and it would be extremely uncomfortable to try and insert it dry.

It seriously is nothing to worry about. Just remember to make sure you can't feel it. If you can, it needs to go in more.

There wouldn't be a high risk at all if she just put it in and took it out, which I assume is what she was planning on doing.

It really hurt the first time I tried to use a tampon, but it's fine now... I prefer applicators; less messy! Does anyone else find that period cramps aren't so bad when you've got a tampon in?

Oh, and am I the only one paranoid enough about leakage to wear a towel *with* a tampon? My periods are quite heavy, lol.

Whichever works best for you. Most of them come with instructions, you just try and see what is most comfortable.

I don't get what there is to "lol" about though.

Yes. This is true. I was being an idiot, I think.

I have a question, too - is it ok to wear them even if your period is really light? Mine are usually only normal on the second day, and just light before and after. Would the mini ones work on those days or should I refrain from using them at that time?

ok WOAH!?! now either im abnormal or thats jus not fair!! i started wen i was .. about 12 i think, it was 11 days long ! i've settled into a regular pattern now, but they're still about 8 days long. really heavy on the first 4 days (and nights urgh wot a pain) and then like reg - heavy for another 4... hmm i suppose it could be worse, my friend has a period every 17 days!!

i started off with sanitry towels, stuck with them for about .. 10 months or so ? switched to tampons for a holiday thingy. never looked back. SO much better. first time was uncomfortable, but stick with it and you'll be fine.

good luck!! xx

They do last ages though. They sort of stop and then start again, which is highly annoying, so it's not all great. Lately they're more often than they should be, too. I used to be able to go almost 2 months but not anymore. Gutted.

hmm .. well when did u statr? because diff people take longer n shorter times to settle into a pattern .. i mean for me it took about 3 or 4 times, i know some1 whos been havin periods for about 10 months n shes still nowhere near regular. you just gotta wait till your body settles down. all becomes a lot easier when that happens.

Contraception helps. When I started mine were awful, long crampy ugh! On the pill they changed from 8 to about 5 days now I'm on the implant I barely notice at all, they last two days max and are so light I can wear a lowest absorbancy tampax compac and not have to change often at all!

God bless implanon!

The Pill is a Godsend for irregular and heavy periods. For the first 3 1/2 years of mine I had really heavy ones, then they started being really light but were every two weeks. So I got fed up and went on the Pill- 4 or 5 day periods, always at the same time (obviously), less cramps, slightly lighter, oh and the whole less-chance-of-getting-pregnant thing too. *Hearts*

I find mooncups even better than tampons! Got one a few months ago and have never looked back! I have very heavy periods and they are the only thing that overnight I dont have to get up and change! I use a panty liner on the heaviest day, but thats it!
