The Student Room Group

just date ideas...

Boring thread. There's a girl, we know heaps about each other, but are really shy and coy around each other in person. But i've eventually plucked up the courage to ask her to go out, and she seemed pleased to accept, which is nice. We're both 17, so bars would be a bit fiddly, restaurants seen a bit formal, cinema seems a bit cliched, the big park doesn't seem special enough. i'd rather do something in the day, since it's summer. We'd just like to talk (maybe cuddle), so maybe not somewhere really loud, but on the other hand, awkward silences could be... awkward. advice please...
you could maybe spend the day in the park and do something in the evening? like go to a gig.
How about finding a really nice place in the countryside next to a river or some woods perhaps? You could take a picnic and make an effort to find out her favourite foods and make them.

What about going to a theme park if there is one close by? Alton Towers is great because theres rides for you to huddle up to each other on, but theres also some really pretty walks around the grounds. If you don't have a car its so easy to get to by train (Central Trains have an offer of train tickets to and from Uttoxeter, entry tickets and bus ride to Alton Towers, but prices depend on where you are in the country).

What about going to an outdoor concert or festival somewhere? Theres plenty going on this time of year around the country.

The other day I went punting and we took pimms and lemonade - it was soo much fun. If you have any access to boats you could do something like this

I'm guessing it the OP who gave me the rep? Thankyouuuu! When are you going on the date? And have you decided on anything yet?

I totally agree. I would love a bf who would take me somewhere like that rather than the usual cinema.

A picnic in the graveyard.
Beautifully ironic.

What about going on a boat or something? I'd say something near a river - and a picnic is always lovely. Either that, or you can do something (if you feel up to it!) that my ex and I used to do - get up really early, like 5 am, go for a long walk, and then have a picnic breakfast.
Possibly better for later on in the relationship, but still lovely to do. x x

I agree with Kitten on this...a walk or a picnic somewhere would be well cool
Invite her over to your house. If you have an awkward silence, you can just fill it with a shag or some foreplay.

Or you could just go to a coffeeshop (starbucks).

Aww that sounds really nice, I'd prefer that to a trip to a cinema anyday
And take her to your house and cook her her favourite meal

I know you said you dont like resturants. But going for a meal in the afternoon has a total different feeling to an evening date. I went for pasta for my first date with my current boyfriend.
