Why do people go to the gym and do nothing?

So I am in the gym minding my own business. And there is this female with this dude. The female is just watching the guy exercise. She does nothing, just stand there as if she is his slave or something.

If I was that dude I would be showing how to do exercising and making her do the exercises, not just stand there and watch.

Do men just bring their females to the gym to show off?

OP, I know what you mean. Saw a couple do the exact same thing today. There was probably a dozen or so machines that she could have used and been somewhat close to him. It's not like she has to stand there and do nothing!

To get out of the house perhaps, or because health insurance is cheaper. There used to be a couple of women who seemed to use the bikes at low speed and continue a conversation throughout.

Crazy. she wasn't even watching him. she seemed bored. She just ended up on her iPhone while he lifted. I was like come on, the gym isn't a place to show off your female.
