root canal treatment?
Something which interests me is the abscess in teeth, which can affect people neurologically. One lady had an abscess and she was hearing sounds like radio tuners. Try dental journals.

I switched between 3 different topics before I fixed my final title.
It's okay to read around, it shows your learning process, which if you explain properly, can get you some more marks.
Good Luck!!

The incidence of caries?
The incidence of extractions? These might make good research projects

That's actually a pretty good idea? But what could I name my title...?

'To what extent has root canal treatment improved since the 1970s'?

Or are there any better titles you have in mind?

That's a good question to put down as your first title. Are you going to look at how treatment is done in the UK only? You could look at the treatments preferred in other countries. Also have a look at apicoectomy & pulpotomy, their only slightly related to your topic but read about them anyway.
Go visit your main library, see if there's any good books and/or dental journals. If you want more good quality books, try the British Library

Best of Luck with this EPQ and your future dental career.

Feel free to ask any more questions, happy to help.
