Sustained is shockable and non sustained unshockable but what exactly is the difference?

Sustained is, well, sustained. Non-sustained means that the patient has short runs of VT which self-terminate, so you don't need to shock them. The risk, of course, is that at some point it will become sustained, which is not good.
