If they asked about an ethical dilemma I experienced/witnessed
during work experience, would this be right?

GP discussed with me how patients often ask for antibiotics even though their infection is viral. After 30+ years as a GP, she still has to explain that they are ineffective. Even so, they return 5 days later asking her to reconsider.

If the GP did prescribe them, you could say she is violating the ethical principle of non maleficence because taking unnecessary antibiotics can cause side effects. You are also contributing to antibiotic resistance. But if she did prescribe them, you could say you are complying with the ethical principle of beneficence because as a doctor, you're supposed to care for your patients mental well being as well as their physical well being, so prescribing them would reduce their anxiety, stress etc. Finally, patients have a right to autonomy, so have a right to choose and refuse treatment. Not giving them the antibiotic is invoking their autonomy.

Is this an ethical dilemma? Would this be correct to mention?
