i just feel really low and i don't have any motivation to find work. it never used to be like this, but since my depression 2 years ago which was on/off, i haven't had a permanent job. i have worked a few weeks here and there with a family member for cash in hand, but this is all i have on my resume for the last 2 and a bit years.

i am nervous to get back into work after all this time. i suffer from anxiety too, so that doesn't help matters. i want to work and feel worth something again, but right now i feel worthless and my self worth is low.

i can't even force myself to try volunteering. what advice have you got?

i am 25 and i can't go on like this as i need to work to boost my self esteem. there are people my age who are earning good money, living on their etc, then there's me who has been depressed and lacking motivation.

    thanks for any advice.

I've been in a similar way for the last year and a half, even looking at my CV and sending it off makes me anxious. Volunteering is a good way to get you references, but don't feel like you need to push yourself into that straight away.

Are you on benefits of any sort at the moment? Stuff like ESA and PIP can help you financially, and they are supposed to give health support but i haven't had any from them yet.

What about your GP? Have you seen them for any advice or information? There may be quite a few NHS services near you that can help you get better. I recommend trying anything you can if it's free, because there is a lot of stuff out there that might help, but you don't know until you try
