I understand how to differentiate by using standard results, but why do we use differentiation? What is the point of differentiating a function/gradient? I just need some clarity on it :/
I was discussing with a friend earlier and he was explaining how they use differentiation to solve time-related questions in mechanics 2. He seemed to say that they differentiate the displacement to get velocity and again to get acceleration; how does reducing the square by 1 allow m/s to turn into m/s^2?
What are your thoughts?
