Yes definitely CGP books help, I did B1, C1, P1 just last year, to be honest the only disadvantage to the CGP books are they tell you more than what you need to know for the exam which can get confusing as you don't want any unnecessary information floating in your head.
But depending on what exam board your taking, AQA etc, the best thing to use is a combination of the 2014 specification, for this you must type in on google e.g AQA SCIENCE SPECIFICATION, and is available for free
That is the best thing to help you, it tells you exactly what the exam expects you to know, if you know the whole spec which isn't as difficult as it seems, you will fly through the exams with A's like I did. If you don't understand anything in the specification just reply to me and ask anytime or use the CGP Core Science Book, available on amazon too for £4 I think!
Don't hesitate to ask for help or ask for the links to the specification or where to purchase the right book!
I'm here for you
