Question about UCAS points watch

    • Thread Starter

    I'm currently in year 12, studying Physics, Maths and Chemistry

    Please can someone explain the UCAS points system, how I can check how many I have, and what they actually do/mean?

    Because I hear the term being thrown around a lot, I just never know what it means...

    UCAS points are used by some universities to make offers. Most Level 3 qualifications attract UCAS points, with the number varying by what grade you get.

    For instance, at A Level,
    A* = 140 points
    A = 120
    B = 100
    C = 80
    D = 60
    E = 40
    With an AS being worth half the number of points.

    So, if you were to get an offer that was 300 points, you could get BBB, ABC, A*BD, BBCe etc

    However, the better unis tend not to give out offers in terms of UCAS points, and will give offers in terms of specific grades eg BBB rather than 300 points
