Bounced back from our last two matches that were losses with a win against Birmingham. I think we'll be safe now as it would require a massive cock up on our behalf.

And Brentford win a big game...

In all seriousness a good result for us

Not as good a result for you as your draw is for us!
A very concise piece here on why so many Coventry fans have nought but contempt for football's authorities:

And the FL season awards have happened - Championship Player and young player - Danny Ings & Will Hughes. Don't necessarily agree with Ings , Drinkwater has been absolutely key to the best side in the league, should be his award, but I can see why it's gone to Ings - an absolute lorryload of goals taking a midtable side to championship contenders, quite a player, but Will Hughes? Most over-rated player I've ever seen.

Was there a worst owners' award? How about an award for most incompetent governing body?

On a serious note, nice to see Franck Moussa get goal of the year. One crumb of comfort from this shambles of a season.

Oops, bitter much?

In all seriousness, the only reason you're saying he doesn't deserve it is because he never performs in the big games (the Forests and Leicesters), the only games of ours you probably see (fairly confident in saying that too).

I also think the type of player he is put him at an advantage. There are aren't many English ball-players in the Spanish CAM mold. Young CBs, on the other hand, are a dime a dozen over here.

As for Ings, you've contradicted yourself by giving the exact reason he got the award, in that he carries a mid-table team. Drinkwater's a good player in a very good team. I'm sure you'd still be alright though if he was out injured. Burnley without Ings, I'm not so sure.

Failing to see how Deeney's goal wasn't goal of the year. By no means a wonder strike but well, y'know.

Being top of the league and being bankrolled to the hilt isn't enough for SLF obviously. Poor guy, Leicester fans have so much to complain about right now.

Considering how much the FL has shafted us awarding us goal of the year was the least they could do. Not seen Deeney's effort however Moussa's was quite a peach.

True I've only seen him in the big games, but not performing in those is surely a decent indicator that he shouldn't have got it? Being a flat-track bully and a good player are two entirely different things, if he only performs against lesser sides then he probably isn't that good a player, just benefited by inferior opposition.

I'd agree with that, but even so, has he been the best young player in the FL (in all positions) I'd argue not. On the shortlist (Hughes, Moore, Pritchard) it should surely go to Pritchard - 5 goals and 8 assists and arguably Swindons key player. As for hughes, he's not even the best player in the derby midfield (Why Bryson wasn't in the running for player of the season I don't know).

However, goals shouldn't be the be all and end all when deciding the award - it's like commentators just giving the MoTM award to whoever scored the most, it's just lazy work. I can't begrudge it him, he's had a terrific season, but Drinkwater has been the better player, no doubt, and that's surely the point of this award. I'd disagree with that completely as well. Drinkwater's form disappeared about January last season, and with it, we collapsed. He is absolutely crucial to our success.
No fancy awards down in here in Hillsborough, excluding PFA player in the community to Reda Johnson. Lovely chap and a cult hero who donated 5k of his wages on the spot to help buy sensory equipment for a school specialising in disabilities.

Well you can't really judge him then, can you? At the end of the day, he's 18 years old, playing at the top end of the Championship and also playing well in 80-90% of the games. We really do miss him when he's out as we have a complete lack of creativity in midfield (Bryson and Hendrick work hard but technically aren't great), which he may well be for the Forest game on Saturday.

The hype around him certainly doesn't help either. Constantly being touted as Steven Gerrard's replacement when that's not his game at all leads to a lot of people being underwhelmed when they finally see him. You need to understand his game and look out for the little things that he does so well. Don't go expecting him to make 70 yard passes or go dancing through 3 players before curling it in. That's just not what he does.

I wouldn't have Bryson down as a nomination personally as I'm not a massive fan. As I said, he works hard and scores goals but he doesn't do anything particularly better than many other Championship midfielders. Add that to the fact he hasn't scored in a good month or two and he doesn't contribute much at all nowadays. He put in one of the worst performances I've ever seen against Bolton the other week too. His stats are really padded out by an extended purple patch, especially in the goals tally.

Goals win games unfortunately and that's the main factor strikers are judged on. As him and Drinkwater play different positions, you have to work out the effect each one has had on their team. In my reckoning (and, I guess, the panel that decides these awards), Burnley would be much worse off without Ings than you would be without Drinkwater.

Very pleasing to see Adam Forshaw pick up the League One Player of the Year Award. It's difficult to compare him to anyone as Brentford are obviously the only team I've seen play multiple times this season but he has been incredibly good!

We also won community club of the year yet again.

I was half hoping that we would win that latter award, more for comic value than anything else.

Cellino found guilty of tax evasion by an Italian court, which could very likely cause him to fail the fit & proper persons test. If he does fail, Leeds will go into administration.

Why would you go into admin?

We've run up quite a few debts we can't pay off, Cellino was going to clear it as well as buy back Elland Road, GFH looking to sell the club asap. Cellino is appealing the verdict though.

Guess wanting to get into the PL at any cost isn't looking so prudent then? Not having a dig, but if Leeds end up in trouble it's this aggressively short termist culture in English football which is putting our clubs in danger of stuff like this.

I have full confidence in our FA to pass him still.

He owns another club, that's the clincher.
