Choosing an offer: Sociology course: Durham/Warwick/Bath

Hey there!
I was lucky enough to get an offer to study Sociology form all three universities: Durham, Warwick, Bath.
However, I'm not sure which one I should take - I can easily meet the conditions in all three cases. Could someone give me some advice? I really need it!

Hey Venezia12 - well done on getting offers from 3 fantastic universities for Sociology!

I can only speak about Warwick because that's the only Sociology department I've seen! Can I ask whether you've visited each of the universities? It might be wise to book onto each of the applicants/offer-holder days the universities offer and check out which one you prefer that way!

Others might suggest looking at League tables - This wouldn't hurt but I wouldn't say that this is the best way of identifying which would be best for you

Once again, well done!

Hi there,

I'm a second year Sociology student at Bath, so if you have any specific questions about the course or the university, don't hesitate to quote me and I'll be happy to help!

I was in a similar position when I chose my university so I know exactly how it feels. I agree with what Hero-H said, if you haven't already visited them all this is one of the best ways to get a feel for the university and figure out which campus/department/city is best for you.

I personally chose Bath because it had everything I wanted from my university. The city itself was perfect for me, it has such a welcoming atmosphere, it's safe and so pretty. It's also not too big but still has a lot going on throughout the year. The campus itself has a real community feel as all the university's facilities (the SU, library, lecture halls etc) and the majority of accommodation are located in one place.

It's also important to think about the course itself. For instance at Bath there is an interdisciplinary approach to Sociology, meaning you can choose to take modules from other programs such as Languages, Politics and Psychology. You should consider whether you would prefer to cover a range of modules or specialise when it comes to choosing course.

All of those universities have great reputations so make use of all the resources you can to make your decision, and be sure to visit them if you are really struggling!

I hope I have helped in some way, feel free to quote me if you have any questions about Sociology at Bath.

Good luck with decision!

Nicole.

Warwick and Durham are the better universities, generally speaking.

As reiterated above, visit them all. I can't think of any universities more contrasting to one another than Warwick and Durham

Thank you very much! Unfortunately I haven't been to any of the universities and it is highly unlikely that I will be able to visit all three.

Hey!
Thank you very much for sharing you opinion with me. Unfortunately I won't be able to visit all three universities even though I know that would help my decision a lot. Anyways, what you said was very helpful so thank you!
