# urgent help: pictures provided watch

1. i dont understand 3i)... the question is the left hand side picture and the answer is the right.

I can't see where 0.5875m/s comes from?? I don't get it at all! Help would be great

It's the mean value of .85 and .325 which are the initial and final velocities in that 0.05s interval

one last question: Where does GMm/r come from? Is it not meant to be GMm/r^2 ?

I don't see GMm/r in this question. It's the formula for gravitational potential energy of a mass m at a distance r in the field due to a mass M.
The 2nd formula is the one for the force between two masses M and m a distance r apart.
I don't see how either relate to this question.
