Some pretty shocking allegations against Portsmouth MP Mike Hancock on mentally ill girl. The article lists some of her allegations. The QC investigating the case has said that the allegations are credible. Considering some of the allegations which he has not denied should he be fired as an MP

    allegations
No, never, the claims need to be substantiated. Otherwise if someone doesn't like an MP, then they can claim the same thing.

No. Not unless these allegations are proven. You set a very dangerous precedent if you say that it is right to remove a democratically elected MP from power just because they have been accused of a crime.

the trouble is these are not just allegations, the LibDems own internal report which was run by an independent QC concluded the evidence was credible

I just wonder given all this particulalry some of the outrageous evidence why are the police not doing anything and why has he not been charged or why is he not going to trial at the very least

Well my thoughts exactly. If the evidence is there then there is a duty to charge him of this crime, and if the evidence is substantial enough to prove him guilty then he will be removed as an MP.

That's what the justice system is THERE for.

    'No'.

The law is clear here in that he can remain an MP so long as he is not sentenced to a prison sentence of more than 12 months. Since he has not fought a case against him in a court of law i don't believe we should punish him by removing him from an esteemed position as an MP given the principal of innocent until proven guilty.

Yes. He's an MP so guilty until proven innocent.
