In a lot of subjects, teachers often focus on the how and the what of subjects, despite the fact that when students get to a position where they are now maybe working, the how and what often changes. Why doesn't school focus on the why? What do you think?

To program students into machines that get good grades in exams. The school's rep then goes up which means they get more students and more funding. Rinse and repeat.
