    Is this supposed to be

    e^{2x - 1} + e^{x - 2} = 0

    or e^{2x} - 1 + e^x - 2 = 0

    or something else?

    So it could be written e^{2x} + e^x - 3 = 0

If you write u = e^x you have a quadratic in u which you can solve for u and then take logs to get x.
