another darn weight problem

okay so i lost some weight over a few months went down to 7stone10 im 5ft3. I admit i was a little strict with myself only having breakfast and tea (and cutting a lot of the carbs out) and excersizing everday. However since coming home from uni ive been less strict- i snack on fruit and have some carbs a few times a week and dont do cardio everyday (i try and excersize 3 times a week). this is were the problem is i usually have my periods every 3 weeks it has never been irregular (and has been like this for over 3 years) and ive never had any problems with it. However i havent been on my periods since leaving uni for summer thats 6 weeks this friday- i know Anorexia is defined as amenorrhoea for 3 months- i dont have a distorted body image and i dont starve myself, do you think i should see the Dr ASAP or should i wait a few more weeks? i Dont understand why i havent been on my periods yet as i dont think my body weight is dangerously low and why has is only just stopped when my weight loss stopped in May if it was that serious + when im now eating better? oh and im a 100% sure that im NOT pregnant. appreciate all the advice in advance guys thanks x
7 stone 10 on two meals a day? You should've seen the doctor before starting that diet... definitely, go as soon as possible.

Why do people do this to themselves?

:ditto:

A little strict on yourself? You mean you were torturing yourself?
You do not weight very much at all, thou for your height it may not be dangerously low? it must still be very low.

One thing i am certain of is that you are starving yourself 2 small meals a day with no carbs is just not enough.

Here is a litlte secret i have if you want to maintain your weight. Cut out all sweets and junk food from your diet, but dont be scared to eat a lot, dont necciserly eat when ever you feel like it, but if you feel very hungry then eat, just make sure the food is low fat. You want to know why you wont gain weight? because you will start either running or cycling (outside, not in the gym) you will do it intensly and you will do it long distance so that it takes you sevral hours and you come back complety shattered. You will not gain weight easily if you do excersize to the point where you are totaly physicaly fatigued, i have been doing this for sevral years. It takes a lot of detirmination and you may not mange to do it at first, but if you find a given route of a decent legnth e.g. start with a 30km cycle and each ride try and beat your previous time, race against yourself like this and then increase the distance every so often, the easiest way to cycle (or run) intesnly enough is to race against yourself in this way.
Your periods don't just stop when your body weight is too low they stop when your body isn't working properly. If you haven't been eating properly then your body is not able to function properly and therefore your periods have stopped. To bring them back you may have to stop exercising completely for a while and really relax things with your food intake eg making sure that you eat enough and eat comple carbs regularly rather than restricting them. Also ensure that you eat loads of calcium per day. I would advise eating about 1200mg per day. If you do this soon then it is unlikely to be a problem and I am sure they will come back. It is not good for your body not to have periods and the longer you go without them the more damage you will do.

Also not having periods for 3 months is called chronic amenorrhoea and is not automatically defined as anorexia. There are several different symptoms that have to be diagnosed in order for a diagnosis of anorexia to be given.

Hope your periods come back soon.

thanks for the advice guys- generalebriety you ask why people do this well the reason why i did it was because i got called enormous and as huge as an elephant by my mother, every day she actually told me to cut down to 2 meals aday, when i was at uni and we'd speak on the phone the first thing shed ask is what ive eaten and whether id lost any weight (i was about 9stone 10 then) so please dont just dismiss weight issues as someone being stupid, but thanks for the advice friendsfreak88 and titanium have said x
So to conclude, your mother is crazy and you were crazy for following her 'advice'.
