I integrated: sec(x)-2 to get pi[(tan(x)-4x)] I subbed in pi/3 and -pi/3

And got pi(2sqrt3 - 4pi/3)

The integral of Sec(x) is not Tan(x)

The answer is:

8pi^(2/3) - 2pi(sqrt3)

Just looked at the question and realised that you were actually integrating sec2xsec^2x

You need to do 2 - secx

Yh I integrated sec^2x-4 to get (tanx-4x)pi

Why do I need to do 2-secx and not secx-2?

Because you need big volume - small volume

Okay

Say if the question was: find the volume of the solid formed when the curve y=secx is rotated through 2pi radians between -pi/3 and pi/3

Would you just integrated sec^2x to get tanx then go from there?

You want to find the shaded region rotated through 2pi radians

yes

I got (8pi^2)/3 -2pi(sqrt3)

The answer in the book is (8pi^(2/3))/3 -2pi(sqrt3), is this a mistake?
