Some STIs won't live in your mouth. I know gonorrhea causes sore throats and coughs. Chlamydia can cause eye infections. There are apparently very few cases of HIV transmission through oral sex.

How many do you want to catch?
As long as you know the guy well enough, are going out with him and even better, have got him tested, then there's no reason why you should catch any.
