if it's a repetitive easy mistake - like constant gender confusion - then you will get marked down but mistakes that everyone makes are less likely to drop you a level

completely agree also - when I speak english I'm sure i make a lot of grammatical errors and I don't think 'okay I should probably stick a subjunctive in here' (if we used the subjunctive that is)

languages are supposed to give you a huge vocabulary and better comprehension but instead they restrict you into set phrases to lead towards that all important subjunctive and force you to rote learn a presentation about a film you could not care less about

**** school man

okay. true i get marked down for **** like adjective agreement **** that **** pisses me off haha.

i think the whole curriculum should be rethought for languages, they are seriously declining in popularity, maybe they should have a think why... when are we realistically going to be discussing in french (or any other language) the disadvantages of solar power ffs and there's loads of other useless crap. they should teach us how to communicate first and how language has evolved so lots more colloquial stuff like how native speakers actually speak.

**** the system

physics/maths personally, my other subjects are chem and bio. I find Biology the easiest out of my subjects:smile:. but physics and maths are really quite difficult i think!

physics, because i got lowest grade in that. or that may have been due to the fact that my teacher changed his method of teaching at A2. Got A's at AS but dropped straight to D and U at A2 lol.

What do you mean changed his method of teaching?

Well I'm currently doing my second year at sixth form. My subjects are Business Studies, ICT and Psychology. I dropped Accounting after AS. For me Accounting was extremely hard (hence why I dropped it) followed by Psychology as it requires remembering a lot of stuff. For example we have to memorise 60 studies for the unit 3 exam. Then I would say the least hardest is Business studies and ICT. In business you just need to provide a valid balanced argument and provide stats from the case studies. However I have heard for the unit 4 exam we will need to do some research work and remember stats and figures. The least hardest would be ICT as it was common sense writing reports and creating spreadsheets for the coursework and doing a quite straightforward exam. A2 is quite easy to planning and designing creating a newsletter and website. However it can be quite time consuming and take up space for when you may otherwise revise for other subjects.

Now, obviously, this varies by person to person. But what would you say are the hardest A-levels? Whether it is the ones you've studied or the ones you've heard about. Try and give variation.
I've got choices: Economics, Philosophy, History, Psychology, GovPol, Physics and Chemistry. Which of these are the hardest, easiest and 'soft subjects'.

I've asked lots, just one more, though, once you've answered, underneath put the university you're studying at or the offers you've recieved.

Cheers.

I'm currently studying Law, Maths, ICT and Religious Studies at A2. Now, from personal experience I would say that the hardest a-level I'm studying is law. But it varies from person to person. Many would argue that maths is difficult, but for me, I just can't seem to grasp the contents for law as easily as I do for maths!

BUTTTTTTTTTTTT; apart from law, I'd say that other hard a-level subjects would include biology, chemistry and physics. (Science has always been my weakest subject from nursery haha:tongue:)

As for other subjects like media and geography, I'd say they're quite easy as they require you to draft model answers and learn them for the exams. Also, coursework based.

Choosing your A-Levels can be difficult but I think the best advice is to pick the subjects you enjoy. Don't try and pick subjects based on their difficulty level or how well they go together. I'm in Year 13 and I study Maths, Further Maths, IT and Drama. In all honesty, I love going to college because I get to study subject I enjoy. Further Maths is difficult but I'd rather spend an hour wrecking my head over an FP3 question than memorising every bone in the human body. In all honesty, you can't really tell how difficult a subject is going to be until you actually start it. For example, I took Drama as a bit of light relief from the Maths but as AS, my highest grades were As in Maths and Further Maths then Bs in Drama and IT with Drama being my lowest UMS. You never know how you're going to take to a subject or the teacher who's teaching it but if you enjoy what you're learning, you can't really go wrong.
I have offers to study a Masters in Computer Science at the University of Liverpool ABB with the A in Maths, same course at the University of Manchester A*AA with A* in Maths, same again at Durham University AAA including Maths and Further Maths and a Masters in Computer Science with Mathematics at Lancaster University ABB with A in Maths and B in Further Maths. Hope this helps

I currently take Maths, Further maths and Psychology at A2 level and I find psychology waaaaaaay harder than further maths. So it does depend on the person a lot.

In my opinion chemistry and physics seem to be the most difficult, even though I never did them at A level.

Reply 47

Maths, further maths and from what I've seen Physics too.

Reply 48

I took govpol, psychology and english. Psychology is certainly harder than govpol and English.
I would say that maths is the hardest followed by economics, physics, chemistry then psychology, history, philosophy, govpol with English being the easiest. But trust me, it's no easy a.

Reply 49

depends who you are, I find chemistry easy because I can analyse stuff but I find dates in history hard, idk. Of course, there are some who find dance the hardest...

If you look at it from a non-student point of view, I'd say the first thing that comes to someone's mind will be chemistry and physics. However, because I study these subjects I wouldn't say they're the hardest for me. In my opinion philosophy, psychology and biology look the hardest.

Reply 51

I took biology, chemistry, psychology and Spanish.
I found chemistry to be the easiest and psychology to be the hardest!!
I never really got psychology

Reply 52

Of these subjects I did psychology and chemistry (I also did biology)
Have finished my A levels and on a Gap Year now- have 3 interviews for Medicine.
Chemistry was literally the hardest thing I have done in my life, but psychology was by far the easiest (basically a memory test in my opinion), then biology was somewhere in between.

From hardest to easiest:
Computer Science
Physics
Maths

I've got to say that I am naturally good at maths and problem solving but when it comes to written questions, I fail.

Reply 54

History.

It's not as simple as maths, where everything is rote, and science where you can just memorise most things.

Reply 55

From my experience, Chemistry was the hardest but just because it was so awful and I didn't see the point of most of it. I enjoyed Physics more so didn't find it as difficult.

If I'd have taken a language though I would have found that the most difficult, I really struggle with languages (so much that I don't even have a GCSE in it)

Reply 56

It's so subjective, I feel. It depends on where your strengths lie and your interests. Generally, Physics is regarded as a very hard subject for those studying the sciences. My friend is an amazing mathematician and very intelligent, and they find Physics difficult despite their aptitude.
Out of my A levels (History, English Lit, Politics and Philosophy) I find philosophy the hardest. It's certainly easy to revise but the content is hard to understand and takes a while to comprehend.

Reply 57

1-Chemistry (Difficult content)2-Physics (Difficult content)3-Further Maths (Difficult content and the course is always changing)4-Art/Photography (purely for the amount of work required)5-MFLs (it's a whole new language...)6-Textiles (also has alot of coursework and additional hours needed for a good grade)

Reply 58

Personally, I find maths the hardest....

Reply 59

Biology. Because you REALLY have to get the mark scheme points written correct to the last comma, otherwise you may not get the mark. And it personally gives me the nervous tingles tbh, even though I cannot pinpoint why is this exactly... #Biology #ALevels #nohope
