I'm in the same situation as you are, but with the LSE. Just e-mail them stating that you need the document in order to apply for an early visa.
I'm still waiting for UCL as well. Planning to call today as my documents were mailed to them on July 6. I want to make sure they received them at the very least.

I am an international student and I have an unconditional offer from UCL (Economics). Can anybody tell me when will UCL (department of economics) will sent the official offer letter to me, which is necessary for VISA application.

You use your UCAS AS12 letter to apply for your visa, not the UCL letter. Anyhow, the UCL letter should arrive in a couple of days after the unconditional offer shows up on UCAS Track. No. of days depends on where in the world you live...

I'm in the same postion..only for law - I spoke with admissions and they said it had been sent at the beginning of July..I'm assuming it's taking longer b/c I'm in Canada. They said once I receive the letter, I can use that to apply for a visa. Econ probably works the same? So hopefully you'll receive it soon - but definitely check your dept. to see if it's even been sent, and ask the visa dept if you can use the letter from UCAS. Probably a good idea to check how long it'll take for your visa to go through as well..I'm not stressing yet b/c it doesn't take all that long being from Canada. goodluck!
I just called UCL, this is in regards to postgraduate students at least (no UCAS). The letters are to be mailed out in a few weeks! Umm...I need to apply for the visa! And I was planning to go to London end of August to secure housing. I told the man that and he said he'd make a note of that next to my name. I don't see why they would send the letter that one needs to apply for a visa in August if we need to arrive in September.

Just outta curiosity, what's the best time to apply for a visa, i.e. earliest, latest, etc?

I simply don't know when to start...
I think they say no more than 3 months before the start of your program.

That's good. We've got less than 3 months now anyhow.

Thank you for all reply and finally I recived my offer today.
but also got another two questions.

Is there anybody asked to provide orignal certificate? because in my letter, it says I have to provide original document in order for them to verify my certificate. but it also says I can show them even after I arrived in London. So I will show them after I arrived there, is it OK?

Did UCL mail accommodation offer and the offer letter at the same time? or they mail it seperately?

Thank you!!!
