Growing taller products

Hi there,

I have just turned 19 and am 5"8 which, for a bloke, i feel quite small (all of my friends are 6'+). As such i feel that i have lost confidence due to such a difference in size although you may consider this very irrational.

Anyway, the point of this post was asking your advice on growth products. Websites ( http://www.growtallerguide.com/ , http://www.growtaller.com/growtaller.html and http://tall.homestead.com/One_tall_step.html) all claim that they can advance growth by up to 3 inches. Obvioulsy, i am very sceptical of the products but at the same time am intrigued by the various testimonials on the various websites which shows how people have grown by the products. What do you people think of them/ have any of you tried them?

I have been to the doctor about this matter and although he admitted that i was smaller than average i would not be allowed to have HGH due to the fact that i wasn't 5 foot nothing. I've asked him about these products and he to said that alot of them were scams although he did suggest that the use of amino acids have been linked with growth. Has anyone tired these?

A thousand thank yous to anyone that can give advice

I say live with what you are and dont worry what other people think. Im 18 and exactly the same height as u with pretty much no chance of growing any more and again my friends are all much taller then me. I just try and see the funnier side of things and let them see that it doesnt bother me. There are plenty of advantages to being small such as:

1) not banging your head on things
2) being able to fit into small places
3) being able to date the smaller girls that tallies would look stupid with
4) and finally u look slightly cuter then a walloping great giant.

So unless you want to be a pro basketballer just suck it in and hope people accept you for who u are and not how many inches you are.

Dont bother wasting your money, I doubt they will work!

In time Im sure you'll be happy with the way you are, and wont think its such a big deal. I am really short (about 5"2, female), you will learn to live with it after a while. I doubt people would really notice anyway, so dont fret too much about it!

The doctor had suggested having shoe lifts but these really hurt my feet. Will try a product called l'arginine as this is supposed to help.

i wouldn't take anything if I were you; small guys are cute ok?!
Don't give up yet, many guys keep growing until they are around 21. You might gain a couple of inches yet.

Those website are obvious cons - they feed off people like yourself who are desperate to grow a few extra inches, but their goods simply don't deliver. I wouldn't waste your money if I were you..

There is a surgical way, where by your legs get broken by the hip and extended so that the bone when it is restored is larger than it previously had been.

As i said previously i know that many of them are cons. It's just that the doctor (a specialist in this particular field apparentley) said that drugs such as l'arginine (which is available at Holland&Barretts) have been known to increase height and although he couldnt prescribe them, suggested if i really wanted to grow taller than that would be the safest product to use.

Other websites claim they can make you grow taller with various exercises. Again i am very dubious and think that this would just lead to bone deformation. Anyone tried these?

Moreover, i know that genetics has an extrmely influential part in growth but my brother who is only 15 is already nearing 5'10 so that suggests that i may also have the oppourtunity to grow taller. However, i don't think i have gro wn since 6 so that is why i have turned to discussing taking l'arginine.
5'8'' at 6? You must have been huge!
I wouldn't worry about it i am 5 feet 7 and i stopped growing ages ago.

I heard Miracle-Gro works well.

I ate a lot of chocolate when I was a kid, I am convinced this is why I was 6' tall at 13.

thanks for taking this topic so seriously

tbh, I actually thought you were joking from the start.

5'8" really isn't that short, try not to be so self conscious about it. I'd say your height is only just below average.

This topic is so childish. I think you should just grow up.

ha ha. i'm hilarious. :d

I LOL'd @ this.

Topic creator, don't worry about it. I'm about your height and I don't care that much. The 'growth' sites are 99% of the time scams.. if not 100%.

It isn't that rare to grow a couple of inches from 18-21 so bear that in mind. Ask your dad how tall he was at your age too.
