Salt water or anestetic(sp?) mouth wash(slighty numbs the mouth). Wash it around your mouth 3 times a day, spit it out and dont drink it.

Put up with it basically. I used to get about 5 in one go when I was like 10... horrible ****ers.

i find that salt washes and that kind of thing work, nor does bonjela (for me anyway)

i get them ALL the time, i use anbesol which is just a stronger version of bonjela really, or to really kill them off put a blob of salt directly on them, or marmite. it hurts for about 10 seconds, but then you can't feel it for a good hour or so. good trick before meals so you can eat without pulling funny faces when food gets stuck on your ulcer!!
I squeeze mine but i dont recomend it! Im posting as anonymous so you people dont judge me!!! lol

ambesol is good - my mums bf is a pharmacist so he gives me good stuff which is like a cream u put on it and dont rub it in but leave it and it works wonders so go to a pharmacist and ask them they will know best and thats what they r there for!
Thanks for the tips....I think I'll try the salt water one. Fingers crossed that will sort it!

Better still, get a grain of salt and press it against the ulcer, It stings like hell, but it really does work! honest!!
Ive got two of the bastards at the moment. Bonjela, and I also find biting it helps.

ambesol is good

Just don't get it mixed up with Anusol.

Bonjela does nothing for me, I might as well be putting jam on them. My dentist gave me a mouthwash to use which supposedly makes them go away quicker, but I'm not convinced that works either. I'm just always thankful it's a mouth ulcer rather than a cold sore - eating might be agony, but at least it's not right there on my face for people to stare at.
Definitely Anbesol. Best thing around- antiseptic AND anaesthetic. What more could you want?

You want adcortyl in orabase...which i suspect is what e_clark was on about. Its a thick paste, a steroid, which therefore brings it down. Put it on before bed, and when you wake up it will have shruck dramatically.
Anbesol is just pain relief, useless at actually clearing them. However if you insist on using it make sure you get the adult strength and not the one suitable for babies.
Put some salt and vinegar in a glass, dilute it with some water and swill it round your mouth. I had two the other day and this got rid of them.

Seriously, grain of salt.
Well I tried the salt water thing and I think it helped a bit...still hurts when I eat though. Grrr. Mouth feels swollen on the side I've got the ulcers too :frown:
