Worried about friend

Hey guys,

I'm sure some of you can relate to this! I'm rather worried about a friend of mine, John, he just won't do anything with his life! We finished college last year and the rest of our friends have been working or at Uni but he has done absolutely nothing! He said college was stressful so he needed a break..but a whole year? Pretty much all he's done is sit at home and go clubbing every now and then and now he's still making no attempt to find a job and another year is upon us.
I know he gets money from his Dad so he's never been forced to get a job to survive, but it seems like he'll stay like that. He lives about 45 mins outside of our city and doesn't drive (and his area apparently doesn't have a bus service) so he's been using that as an excuse. He said he was going to learn a year ago but has yet to apply for his provisional.

How can I motivate him to do something with his life? I don't want him to be a waster who lives off his parents funds 'til he's 55.

theres not a great deal you can do really i'm afraid...

maybe talk stuff over with him, to try and get a better understanding of why hes feeling/acting this way??

but ultimately, if hes happy living like he is...you cant change a person

people who try to change others only end up depressed themselves.

so id say a long chat, maybe say that a 'lot' of other freinds are also concerned about him, and that your concerned that his 'lifestyle' is driving your freindship apart (which by the sounds of things..it is) and see where you go from there.

after 7 months he finally got a job...........belive me all of us nagged the *** out of him to get a jopb.
and whne he was at skl we all nagged the *** out of him to do the work
some people are just lazy asses

Nice example, I have a few friends that are just pure lazy like that and live in the pub. It was a bit hard to read though Tim.

I’m sorry but a great number of people are just lazy. I know that your troubled about your friend but there’s not a lot you can do like at this moment in time like said you cannot force him to get a job. If he wants to be like that then so be it, if he does mess up his life by being like this, then at least you wont have to deal with the regret that you never warned him.
