I hate TFL!

[rant] I hate TFL so much!!! I hope they disband bunch of f***s. Today I had a doctors appointment in Holborn and was going to Ilford today to meet some friends and go watch a move, so I got on a train from Liverpool Street using my pre-pay Oyster card. My mum got of at an earlier station and I got of at Ilford. When I got down at Ilford and walked up to the ticket machines I pressed my Oyster against the reader and the doors opened, as I was walking through they closed on my ribs so I walked back.

I then asked a member of staff who was standing there to open the gate because I had scanned my Oyster on the reader and the gate had closed and he checked my Oyster card for validation. I was then asked if it was a “pre paid Oyster” to which I replied I was and he told me I could not use a pre paid Oyster here and set about handing me a £20 fine of which I had to pay £5 up front.

Now I just find the way TFL work to be confusing, this was my first time going to Ilford and there were no signs at Liverpool Street saying I could not use a pre pay Oyster and its not like I wasn’t going to pay the cost, I was trying to and they refuse to take my money even though they have Oyster card readers on their ticket machines and then handed me a £20 fine and then saying don’t pay any more till you appeal you will probably win. Now if I am going to win why the hell did you give me the fine?[/rant]

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 was decent the ending just screams out we want money from a sequel

Listened to "London Underground" by Amatuer Transplants? Google it.
Did you travel on the overground to Ilford (I remember going on some sort of overground train to Ilford once)? Overground trains are pretty much exempt from Oystercard - I know because I almost tried to use it on the Chingford to Liverpool Street line but asked a member of staff just before I went. I think they're going to change it though.

I hate them too!! The same thing happened to me but at forest gate station and the thing is there arent any barriers anyway! I was told to pay a fine when people who hadnt paid anything got a warning! I found that soooooo rude. I appealled my fine and didnt have to pay it in the end but these people need to make things clearer!

Since being fined i learned the rules you cannot use pre-pay past stratford one that line (one/1st great eastern whichever they call themselves) you can ONLY use a MONTHLY osystercard past stratford hence the reason why they still have the osyter card reader at places like ilford.

It does annoy me to no end as I am trying to pay, I WANT THEM TO TAKE THE MONEY AND THEY WONT! I will appeal it, love having lawyers for family, makes things so much easier..... and yes the London underground song is classic. What really takes the piss is the second ad during the trailers was TFL , cant remember what I shouted when that came on but I remember half the cinema laughing.

You can't really appeal it as you cannot use prepay on National Rail apart from on some bits which are shared with LU e.g. Gunnersbury - Richmond and a couple of other bits.

There are loads of posters saying so.
