Girls - Arm Hair Problems

I'm bored, I'm fed up and this heat is killing me. So I'm thinking of maybe shaving of all my arm hair, or using Veet or something.
I've never really seen the point of removing it before, it just seems so time consuming together with underarms, legs, etc. Having said that, I've always been very self conscious of mine because it's quite dark. It's not so bad at the top of my arm, but it gets quite thick in the middle. This is why I tend to wear long sleeved tops when I go out, which given the weather at the moment, isn't such a great idea.

Should I just leave it? If there's anyone here who does remove their arm hair, do you shave it and if you do does it grow back thicker?

Thanks for any help!

wax it

Don't shave it! If you do then it will only grow back thicker and quicker. I'm sure that you don't want stubble on your arms. If you do want to remove it then I would suggest you wax it. However, if you haven't done anything to it up until now then why not just leave it.

I use veet i think, its the kinda long green aloe vera one, because it makes your skin feel really soft afterwards.. I'd advise to 1) test it on your skin first, and 2) check after 2 minutes and then each minute there after to see if its actually done the job.. because i left it on for 2 minutes once and there was still loads there! :s-smilie:

This is an urban myth.

I still wouldn't recommend shaving it though, it would look kind of weird when it started to grow back...

Yeah, I'm thinking of using Veet too... I've tested it on my arms a little bit before.
How does the hair grow back like?

No really.. it actually does! I think waxing is a lot better.

I'd say wax it tbh, quite a few people seem to do that because it's on the little treatment cards at beauty places. But yeah, definetley don't shave it.

It may be true that it doesn't actually grow back thicker, but no one is going to want to leave their hair to grow as long as it would naturally just to see it go thinner at the ends as it says on your link. I don't like to argue with the internet authority that is snopes, but I know that body hair is often blonde until you start shaving, and I'm sure that my underarm/leg hair grows back quicker now than when I first started shaving it.

Don't shave your arm hair. Perhaps waxing or epilating might be better, or just bleaching, but I have no experience of any of those so I can't really advise. Some of my friends who had dark hair on their arms started shaving it and it does look really strange when it begins to grow back - you don't really want to have stubbly arms!

About 5 years ago when I was bored I plucked two hairs out of my arm & they grew back black/brown instead of blonde. I'm the only person that notices, but it really annoys me. The lesson is: never do anything to your body just because you're bored!

Yeah, I'm too tired to even move now anyway... I'll give this a little more thought and try to find something else to occupy myself with for the time being.

It's not an urban myth! It does. Someone OBVIOUSLY hasn't shaved before. All I know is that if the colour of your hair is a problem try bleaching it (Joleen or something like that is good) or if it's the hot weather, hair removal cream is the best, Veet specifically.

Just leave it. Wear short sleeved shirts. No one cares about arm hair!

Thickish.. not too bad.. but it'd be expected if you removed your hair anywhere.. Its just the fact that with hair removal it stays away for longer so you don't have to do it as often

I bleach mine with boots hair lightener. It lasts for quite a while and works really well. Also, i can stop doing it in winter when my arms arent on show as much so i dont have the hassle all year round. With veet/shaving/waxing i would imagine that you have to do it continuously unless you dont mind the regrowth.

you should wax, epilate, or use a hair removal cream
