Personally, I would seriously reconsider doing an online programme that's aimed at changing careers. I'm currently doing a part-time MBA and the class interaction is so valuable and helps you understand the context of what you're taught a lot more - it also helps with motivation and all that.

I've done three distant learning / online courses. Two undergraduate modules at the Open University, one of which was with tutorials, the other without and both were okay. I also started a master programme in management at the German equivalent of the OU and failed miserably - I actually already hold a MSc in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde.

Another reason for doing it on campus is that you can readily access their careers service and attend careers fairs, engage better with academics, and may get guest industry lecturers, your programme may also feature an industry sponsored team project all of which help you open up opportunities (this was the case with my MSc).

Back on topic, could you provide links to those programmes and I can have a look at what they're teaching? Also, in which direction do you actually want to go, i.e. not just a change but what do you want to be doing afterwards, in which industry do you want to work in and what sort of job do you want to be doing?

Thanks c2Uk

The courses I have checked are the following ones:

1) http://www.university-liverpool-onli...ystems/outline

I like this one, because it looks like a continuation of my career but in different level.
Problem is all online

2) http://www.rgu.ac.uk/business-manage...ional-business

Of this one, I like the syllabus. On the second step the part of launch a venture. Also, that you get a qualification at every step. So, I have a close goal all the time.

3) http://www.rgu.ac.uk/business-manage...ional-business

Of this one I like that I can choose to work in a project and that you meet your peers once. I know that is not much but sounds good

By the way, I would like to work 4 a big company (good structure and clear ideas) and travel a little bit. Not being in the same box, shop, every day. I really enjoy talk with customers but something more challenging for my mind and spirit

2 and 3 are the same

The Masters in International Business at RGU wouldn't strike me as a good syllabus, in particular three modules on international business environment, a little too much for my liking considering you've only got 7 core modules. The "New Venture" module, well that's for somebody who wants to start their own business, which isn't really what you seem to be wanting to do with your degree.

Speaking of which, you don't really seem to know what you want to be doing. From your information, I would probably say sales for a pharmaceutical company - but that may well be not challenging for your mind or spirit.

The other one seems to be focused on health system - public health, would this mean NHS? Not sure how this is 'international'.

In general managerial programmes, I'd expect: People Management and Leadership; Marketing Management; Finance for Managers; Operations Management; Business Strategy; some Economics (Micro); Business Analysis; International Business Environment.

The problem with this is you'd become a generalist without a clear focus or specialisation - this may be good for some jobs, acceptable for others, and a no-go for others.

My general advice is to check out job profiles / adverts of jobs you'd like to be doing, check the job requirements and see what you need to get there, and from there decide which programme to go with.

Yep, the last one was http://www.salford.rkc.edu/courses/m...bal-management. (Sorry)

I think you are right, I have to check first job descriptions and later on see which master is more interesting for me.

I would love to work for a big company for a while, eight to ten years. As I do not consider that is a good plan for a future.

Thanks a million
