What kind of impediment is it? Some can be sexy :p:

If something about him turns you off, be it the way he speaks or bad breath or his dress sense or whatever, don't go out with him. I'm sure he wouldn't want a pity date anyway.
I understand what you mean . What sort of problem is it? The last guy I was crazy about had a stutter. Now he is upper class, awfully so...but he hardly said 3 words to me for about 6 months til he just started talking. hasn't stopped since!!! took me a while as I've done public speaking to the highest level, but you know what ? it was so cute, not that bit that i terrified him so much he couldn't talk but the part that he learned to!!

I don't want to sound like a total bitch or anything it's just [...] Oh god, I am a bitch!!!

Edit: to answer your question, yes I would. Are you the sort of person that gets married to someone who subsequently has an accident and loses a finger, and you decide you can't be with them any more?

That's so not the same thing! My god. If the speech impediment bugs her, she shouldn't go out with him. She's not obliged to.

I didn't say she should go out with him. The last thing she should do is go out with him. But it's equally wrong to decide she doesn't like him on the grounds of a speech impediment - personality, definitely; looks, I could understand; intelligence, maybe; speech? I suppose, therefore, she won't be going out with anyone with a speech impediment, anyone foreign, or anyone from the other half of the country to her, because they'll speak too strangely?

Or maybe it's a ****ty, shallow reason not to like someone.

By the way, thanks for the negative rep, appreciate it. Except it does nothing but make me think you're more childish.

Oh come on, that's a big jump.

And I neg repped you because I completely disagreed with what you were saying. Excuse me for having an opinion. Maybe we should go out - you talk crap, but apparently that would be a shallow reason not to date someone.

I don't want to sound like a total bitch or anything it's just that this guy asked me out last weekend and I dunno, it just gets on my nerves. He's a really nice guy I just.... Oh god, I am a bitch!!! I just like my men nicely spoken. I know it's not his fault or anything I just.... help me out here people?!
In a nutshell.
How does a speech impediment affect their personality or looks depending what sort of thing you go for?

For me it wouldn't bother me, its not as if they can help it.

Why is she a bitch? Explain it to me. What's the difference between turning someone down because you don't like their shoes or their attitude, and turning them down because they have a speech impediment that you find irritating?

Attitude is a perfectly viable reason for not liking someone. And WTF has physiological attributes got to do with shoes? Can't shoes be changed?

your highly assumptive! You cant help what annoys you, why put yourself through it if you dont think the benefits are worth it? There is no compulsion, its a personal choice without obligation, of course sensitivity will help, but i think she has that since she has sympathised with him "its not his fault". No she is not a bitch, anyone who thinks that have neither thought about it thoroughly nor practically.

And you don't get permanently attached to someone who has a characteristic that gets on your nerves either.

I agree, I don't think it's bitchy at all. She can't help the way she feels - I wouldn't go out with someone if they had an attribute that I found especially irritating. What'd be the point of that?

I have a speece impendment , because I have a jaw defect - anterior open bite. Upper and bottom teeth do not touch, so the way I talk is directly affected by it as I canno't pronounce every word correctly due to the phanetics involved.

I don't look like the elephant man though...so if I met you, and you fancied me but thought "nah I dont wanna go out with you cos of the way you talk" , I would think you are a bitch.

Could I date someone with a speech impediment?
n ...n ...n n... n n n n... n n ...n n n ...n n n ....n n n.. n n n .....n n... n n ..n no.
some would say that they couldnt date somebody with a speech impediment, but some wouldnt, there is a very big contrast between people within the south and north of britain (for example) and some would feel uncomfortable with dating somebody from such a different culture
