Hazing

Is there a hazing culture in LSE? Do the first year students go through any ragging/hazing of the sort? Do societies have this as a tradition? In the states there is a lot of hazing especially when you joint a frat - the torurous initation session. Im just wondering if that mentality and culture exists in the LSE as well.

I don't know, but do you want it to exist? :p:

Yeah, do you ?

Don't think I've really heard of anything like that at British Unis. At least, my brother never went through anything like that, and of all the people most likely to be targeted, he would have been at the top of the list

Maybe at British public schools though...man, I wish they still had fagging at public schools. How much of a hilarious tradition was that? :p:

Lol, is your bro an elite loser ?

Hey, he likes to think of himself as cool since he got promoted to the administration team of Enemy Territory and went to that computer gaming conference in Texas!!

Meh, seriously, he's not that bad...just a bit strange, lol. But I guess he goes to Imperial, so there's probably a relatively strong chance that he's normal in that neck of the woods. :p:

Public schools are good!

Although today I decided that I should also have gone to Le Rosey, not just Harrow...

Hazing

Ritual humiliation, basically

We've got similar stuff in France. It's a sort of ritual to which new students/members of a fraternity or sorority are subjected, generally humiliating and cruel. Not sure about fagging...

Fagging is something that occurs in public schools where young boys have to serve the older boys - like bring them breakfast, clean shoes etc...

Occurs? Present tense? You saying it still goes on?

Not officially, however it can occur when required. Unfortunatelly this excellent tradition is likely to die out completely in the next 5 years...

I've never seen you being anything other than ironic, unpleasant and unhelpful on this forum. How about you try and illustrate how civilised Europe is ?

Now I understand why everyone hates the French.

Edit: BTW if you do not understand that yes, it is a joke. (why is this place so full of humourless people???)

My point still stands.
