Which uni should I choose? help

Hi everyone,
here is the case, I am an Egyptian 23 year old student who is trying to find a suitable MA program in linguistics( specifically applied linguistics). I have filled out many applications and received many offers actually, however, I never imagined that choosing a university would be so difficult !!
so, technically the options I am looking at are : Essex, York, Bangor, and York St John.
The linguistics program in Bangor is very very interesting, and I like it the most. However, I am really confused. When I looked at the university rankings I kind of felt scared to actually choose a uni with a low ranking. On the other hand, many people tell me that all this ranking thing means nothing, and that it does not really judge a university properly.

logically, I should do this, but again, what if the program I like the most is offered by a department whose academic level is not that good, u know what I mean?
