No

Ironing should be avoided at all times
When there's an interview suit or some similar emergency, rush down to mum's
Lots of residences provide ironing boards and irons anyway

How are you planning to fit an ironing board in the car?!

Usually, they'll have a laundry room which will have one. If not, you can iron on a worktop or table, as long as you put a thick towel underneath to protect it.

In all likelihood, there will already be an ironing board, and probably an iron in halls as part of your flat. If there isn't, then there will probably be one in the laundry room. In any case, I have been at uni for two years, and have never met anyone that irons anything. You just need to hang it up straight to dry and it irons itself.

people say that if after you've dried something it looks crumply, you should tumble it really hot for 20 minutes and that makes it smooth. I've never tried though cos my clothes are ok crumply.

Yeah, I don't really care either. But even so, my clothes always look ironed because I always hang them up to dry.

Definitley no to the ironing board! But it won't hurt to take a cheap iron or something. Your halls will have a laundry and in that probably an ironing board and iron but at mine they were really awful and dirty.
I took an iron and a small ironing board. It's a really dinky board but it's hard to explain. I have used it a few times when I've been going on a night out or when the bottom of my jeans are really crinkly after being in the drier. I was the only one to take an iron and my housemates sometimes use it for shirts or whatever so I just keep it in the cupboard under the stairs.

It may not be such a problem when you live in halls and have use of a laundry room but maybe take one if you're going into a private sector house in the future.

I took an iron and an ironing mat. You can sometimes borrow them from a friend or something. At my uni we had a JCR thing and you could borrow stuff like that from them.
I took my own iron, but an ironing board was provided in the halls of residence (an iron too, but it was incredibly scummy).
mum's got me an iron but doubt I'll take an ironing board even if we do go in the neighbour's crv
Depends on:
- how much ironing you normally do / what sort of clothes you wear (do they really need to be ironed?)
- what sort of accommodation you're staying in
- what the rules are in your accommodation

Personally, I've always worn shirts that look terrible if they're not ironed, so I use an iron every day - whereas most people probably need an iron once a week or less at uni, in which case it's probably not worth the hassle or getting an ironing board in the car and the storage space in your (probably quite small) room.

If you're in traditional halls, there will probably be a laundry room with iron and ironing boards anyway. In some other types of accommodation (like groups of flats in different buildings), you might have to go outside to another building to ge to the laundry room. Halls' own irons and ironing boards can be quite dirty and have the remains of other people's burn clothes on them! Again, it depends how much ironing you're going to do whether these are problems for you or not.

Many halls will say you are not allowed to have your own iron. You might be able to hide an iron from room checks (although I wouldn't advocate this), but an ironing board is more difficult to hide - and the staff surely realise that where there's an ironing board, there's an iron not far away!
Most unis will provide one in their halls. And I was informed that there isn't normally a queue for it.

It can definately be a good thing to have, but I wouldn't advocate taking one - if you find you want one later, you can always buy it there - it`s not as if you'll be marooned on an island, away from any shops! Plus, you may find there's no space in your room to store one
My, this forum never ceases to amaze me.

What a dumb topic.

Let me break it down - Do you like your clothes ironed? If yes, take the iron.
If no, then don't.

Jeez...
