Bands like Westlife/Blue/Backstreet boys?

GAH! how VERY DARRRRRE you put Take That in the same sentence as westlife *spits on westlife* they are but a piece of poo on gary barlows shoe compared to take that..

take that are pure glory, the ultimate boyband... um otherwise nsync are quite good with some quite dancy songs, 5ive were alright ..

boyzone come a very close second to tt.. boyzone are definetely the ultimate IRISH boyband..

I think its a case of Marmite. You either love it or hate it.

Growing up, the big question was 'are you a take that or boyzone girl?'. I was Boyzone all the way. Possibly because they started later than Take That. Although, I did always like Relight My Fire with Lulu.

This is the second time i've said this today, Boyzone were (are) my Kings. :biggrin:

well boyzone really started just as TT were winding down, i mean when did they start? i think i first remember them when they did love me for a reason, in 1995 at smash hits poll winners.. which was about 6 months before tt split up. So if you weren't really old enough to have been with TT from the beginning then you would have been a boyzone girl. Boyzone were certainly good though, but i would say take that had a big fan base, and them splitting up was bigger news, they were certainly the most successful of all the boybands.

When i was at school it was really 'are you a take that or east 17 girl' boyzone didn't really factor into anything.. so i'm assuming you are a couple of years younger than me.

One thing i have to say is, boybands today are NOTHING compared to boybands of the 90's... there isn't even anything that compares to boyzone or take that.. you could claim westlife do.. but really? no... westlife are pap.

I'm 18

East 17 were never THAT good or popular were they? Not in the same league as TT or Boyzone at least? I certainly remember the day Take That announced the split and it being the most important news on Newsround with loads of young girls distraught because of it! My sister was upset that day too.

Yeah, if you're 18 boyzone really were the boyband of your age group. I'm 23 you see, and take that were just the biggest thing EVER for me and my classmates. TT splitting up was on the 6 o clock news and everything! I'm still to this day asked if i rang up the help line, (i didn't btw) but i was ridiculously distraught. I remember going into school the day before they announced the split and all the boys going on about how tt were gonna split up and me saying 'NO NO NO, they wont.. they just signed a new record deal'. Then i RAN home from school and like collapsed in front of the TV waiting for newsround to come on and then just spent the rest of the evening in tears.. i might have ripped down a poster or two. Going into school the next day was horrid, I didn't want to go.. and as soon as i walked in all the boys in my class just started taking the piss (fair enough really) and so i just ran into the toilets and balled my eyes out. It was a sad sad day.. *sigh* it makes me sad to think about how sad it made me.

The day they announced they were reuniting though.. i was so happy .. so happy it was just stupid... my friends haven't been able to shut me up since.

It is really comical... but at the time, it certainly was not. I think the boys in my class were worried they'd caused me to go top myself in the girls loos, so when i finally came out they started to sing tt songs to me to cheer me up haha! sillyness!

DID I SEE THEM ON TOUR? HAHAHA.. ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yes. I died when the that announced their tour...

I got up at 5am on the day of ticket release to queue up at wembley arena...

i went 6 times. Front Row, 2nd Row, 5th Row, End of row seats (perfect for getting a kiss from markie when they did the walk through) and Golden Circle at milton Keynes twice. Yes yes.. i'm a bit nuts.

I actually died again when i realised i had front row seats. We made the best banner which said 'Look Howard, We've Got Boobs Now' (see attached image) and they spotted it and came over and started talking to us live on stage. I could barely control my excitement!!!!
