Going to the gym and guns

Two questions for y'all:

1) Started going to the gym recently for the first time. I'm currently doing just areobic stuff (20 mins running, 20 mins cycling, 12 mins rowing) about 4/5 times a week. Is this enough to make a difference? I'm in ok shape anyway, but I want to get to the point where I have a great base for improving pecs and abs etcet.

2) In two months, I'm going to start doing a few weights for the arms. I don't want to get big to be honest, just to have a fairly decent definition ... once I get that, do I need to do much to keep it - or will just a bit here and there do?

Thanks

Where are the questions about the guns?

1) Any exercise helps, but you appear to be doing a good amount to improve your fitness markedly.

2) You must keep up weights, but don't increase them unless you want bigger muscles. This should help them maintain a constant size. If you don't do enough weight training after you have the muscles, they will atrophy, and your hard work will have been for nought.

guns is slang for arm muscles
That's a crap slang term though. Since when did arm muslces fire high velocity metal objects?
start weights now, you don't have to weight. Start off with light weights and build up. You'll get more definition with the weights, aerobic burns calories and slims you down. If you want some pecs and some abs definitely start now, because in 2 months time you could be demotivated and not want to go to the gym at all
unfinished, your fourth quote is a bit similar to a favourite Russian saying of mine. 'The man with one eye looking to the past is blind in one eye, but the man who ignores the past is blind in both eyes.' Thought you might like to hear it...

How often, and for how long would i have to do weights to get some improvement? I should stress i don't want to be a big muscled dude, I like my shape - just want slight bit better on pecs and arms. THANKS. And yes: guns are arms .... a la Ron Burgandy

What ever you do, don't do less than 20 reps of a lightweight, otherwise you will go to bed and wake up the next day bigger than arnold schwarzanegger!!
What are 'reps'??

I can see why you made yourself anonymous to ask such a stupid question. Reps = repetitions! :p:

Lol , a bit harsh isnt it, they only asked a question. Reps (repetitions) is the amount of times you perform the movement of the exercise.

As far as the rowing goes what kind of split are you keeping? As a guy you need to be doing 2 min splits or less if you're doing sprints (which is basically what you're doing), but you'd probably get more benefit from doing long ergs.

Sorry to be so blunt but that is total cr*p. After over half a year of weight training my biceps have risne in size form 11 inches up to almost 13 inches.

My pecs have also got big in that time and i have developed decent size back and shoulder muscles.

Its taken me over 6 months and for much of that time i have been using whey protein.

If you think you suddenly wake up huge by doing under 20 reps, you have obviously never done any weight training or your mother is feeding you steroids.

Its not so big, i have a freind whos got 15 inch bicpes! Now, even if i could get them that large i probably wouldnt, but 14 inches seems like a good target.
how lightweight is lightweight? i mean i do 30kilos on my arms- is that light or heavy?
unfinished sympathy

Doing what type of movement? If I bicep curl 30kg (15kg on each arm) i can do sevral reps. I can do over 15 reps of 24kg yet some of my freinds tried it and did under 5 reps.

I dont think a girl could lift this kind of weight, unless of course your talking about benchpress.

titanium it's the one where you push the arms forward.. i do 45 reps
shoulder lift thing 45 reps 15kilos
the one where you press the arms together i can only do 10 kilos..
is that lightweight?
