******* hell, over 80% in essays  no way, you'd have to know exactly what they want, like a detailed plan off what the essay needs to have. I think its impossible to get 90+ on an essay, in uni.

Yesterday I would've disagreed with you, but today I got my scores back for my degree and it seems that business essay based exam where I felt on form, in the zone, etc etc, I only got 73% on.

I would love to read some 90%+ marked essay answers just to see why they're so good.

Hello everyone. This is what the person does when he knows he has been whoop-assed. He has no where else to turn apart from immature and personal insults.

Once the conversation:
"Where do you study?"
"Somewhere."
"Can't be that amazing if you wont say where it is"
"Better than Uni x"
"Statistically, most Unis in the location where you study are ranked worse than x, you are therefore more likely to attend one of these unis"
"Here are some numbers from 2003!"
Qualifies as a sound interlectchual frashin' do let me know.

Thats still a good mark. I did get 76% in an essay based exam this summer, but that is because the question was so good that I knew everything about it, well the thing is, I thought I knew everything about it, cos if it was so brilliant shouldnt I have got almost 100. Thats why I think its so impossible to get over 90 on an uni essay. I would also like to read a 90+ essay

I always write my essays and write ups in the style of a journal artical, which works well for sciences (plus I'm not very good at writing hardcore essays!). I've yet to get lower than 90%.

I also write mine as a journal article, I'm doing a social science subject. I also bought this "How to write a First class essay" book, and it did help me my grades increased by like 10%, but I've never had higher than 80 on an essay and neither as anyone I know :frown: Fluffy what do you do? Got any tips.

Hmm not sure. I guess I was 'lucky' in that I found a style that works for me and seems to go down well with tutors.

If I had to say anything I owuld make sure that you've done your background reading, and make sure your essays are well referenced. The main 'difference' I have noticed between my essays and those of people who get lower marks is the number of reference used. I typically have between 30 and 50 (sometimes more) for a 1500 word write up, which coming from a postgrad background is normal. However, many of my contemporaries generally seem to have far fewer - anything from about 5 to 15...

Ok Fluffy, thanks. Wow 30 to 50 refs, I tend to have only around 15, although you said its for postgrad. If anyone here has an essay based on any of the social science subjects, that got graded as 90+, please could you email me a copy (PM me for my email). Don't worry I'm not going to copy it , just mainly to see where I'm going wrong in writing essays.
Thanks

My course isn't postgrad, it's undergrad - just that I learnt the art of referencing while I did my postgrad

It wouldn't be fair putting salt into the wounds: Some just never learn.

Does mocking dyslexics make you feel big?

Platocrates, you've made some comedy posts in the past, but I don't agree with the mocking of someone just because of a condition. It's below the belt.

No, numerous girls since I was 16 have done this for me.
