1 meal a day

is this too little if I just do it for a week, because I've been putting on the pounds recently being summer hols and all and I saw myself in my underwear yesterday and I felt discusted. So basically I wanna slim down because I'm gonna be wearing a bikini soon. I dunno how much Iweigh probably like 9stone and i'm 5'5 - 6. I know I'm not over weight or anything but I'm flabby and my stomach is really yuck! (it used to be flat, how I miss thsoe days) and I wanna lose weight of that. Situps aren't enough I hear.

So one meal a day, 200 situps, lots of toning up stuff and walking. Is this feasable?

if you were going to eat one meal a day make sure it's breakfast. eating within one hour a day stimulates the metabolism, so food is processed quicker rather than being stored. maybe you could try breakfast, then a sandwich or something for tea.

Thats stupid.
One meal a day and your metabolism will crash - whether you do it for a day, a week, or a month - meaning that you really won't lose weight.
9st for your height is pretty much dead on normal.

Eat 5 meals a day - little and often. It'll keep your metabolism up and hunger down. And whatever you do, don't eat less that 1200 kcal - otherwise your body will go into starvation mode, and cling on to the food that it has.

1 meal a day is idiotic.

Just Eat healthily, drink lots of water and Exercise. Theres nothing more simple than that
You should eat little and often, as this speeds up your metabolism. But as mentioned before, 1200 cals is the minimum.

Without the slightest shadow of a doubt, NO!

One meal per day: metabolism crashes, body doesn't burn fat or use calories as much, fat is retained as body goes into starvation mode, you keep fat, no difference (you could even get fatter due to the one meal!). You honestly won't be able to function properly with 1 meal a day. I once didn't eat for 2 days in a row for a wrestling competition (to get into a lower weight catagory) and it was hell.

200 Situps: I assume you think this is going to improve your flabby stomach? It won't; you can't spot reduce. Doing so many situps will strengthen your abs, making them larger, and if you have a layer of fat over your abs (which most women do unless they're a bodybuilder) you will actually look fatter. Don't bother with the sit-ups IMO.

Toning up stuff: I really think it's a load of rubbish. If it works for you; great! But nothing beats running.

Walking: there's nothing wrong with it, but it's not exactly strenuous. Surely you walk everyday?

To cut fat quickly, I'd do some High Intensity Interval Training 3 times a week. This is where you sprint for 30 secs, jog for 60 secs, etc. This is ideal for getting rid of fat.

You probably want 1800 calories or so daily. Split this into 6 meals of 300 calories. Drink loads of water. Go running. Eat lots of protein, and less fat. Don't be sucked in by sugar-free Coke, etc.
i decided to eat 1 meal a day when i was 13, and i lost like 2 stone and havent put it on since...no excercise for me mwahahaha

but seriously, it's not good. you get major headaches from lack of food, and it's sooooo tempting to just pig out on anything when you get really hungry. withdrawl from food is NOT good.

do what everyone else has been suggesting, eat little and often. and try some fat burning exercise like running, been a lot of posts on that lately. helps lose weight, tones, and keeps the ol' ticker in tip top shape. (that's what im doin now, so i take back the 'no exerise for me').

good luck

Ok everyones been telling me to run. I despise jogging - I'm just one of those people that can't hack it - I'm really not designed for it like some people are. I probably couldn't do more than 800m which is pretty crap.

Exercise increases metabolism...

You could argue that eating certain foods would increase metabolism...

but eating little and often doesn't increase metabolism!

Stupid idea sorry.

Just go more cardio, swimming is good if you don't like running and it helps tone quite a few different mussels by doing different strokes. Sit-ups are good for building strength there not weigh loss orientated.

Eat 6 meals rather than 3 as said by dividing them up. You body will burn these easier.
Fair enough! I was just told that 6 small meals a day is better than 3 main meals. It worked for me, but probably because I liked the fact I could eat a lot!

ditto, except make it 200m. but my bf challenged me to run every morning and then said i'd never be able to do it, so not wanting him to think i was a lazy sod, iwoke up at half 7 this mornin and went for a jolly jog around the local park. it was hard, but you feel very satisfied and refreshed after it. (well, after the shower)

Neither am I, but with persistance, I can hold my own doing 10 kilometres.

It takes practise. Start with 600m, then 8000m, then 1KM, etc. Running is excellent.

Also, I'd run on grass if I were you.

Eating little and often actually keeps matabolism high because it is your metabolism rises by about 15% every time that you eat something so if you eat little and often then your body is more likely to burn off what you are eating. Studies have been done with athletes who consume the same amount of calories overall but those that separate it into 6 smaller meals rather than 3 slarger ones had lower body fat levels and reported having better energy levels.

Exercise technically does not increase your metabolism. Cardio raises your heart rate so your burn calories faster than you would otherwise for up to about 4 hours. Building muscle through resistance training is the only way to permanently increase your metabolism as every pound of muscle gained requies an extra 50 calories per day. Resistance exercise also creates a longer afterburn affect (eg you burn calories at a faster rate afterwards for longer).

To the person who started this thread- Don't only eat 1 meal per day. Any weight you lose will be muscle because your body would be in starvation mode) so you won't actually look any thinner (actually you could end up looking fatter because your fat to muscle ration will have increased).

So basically- don't do it!!!

user one i like ur new meal schedule.
does the special k diet work?
and why dont u try running on the spot or step ups.
just remember always keep moving and every little helps
Sorry didn't see your plan before. It still doesn't sound like enough to me I would be very hungry eating that little per day. You are better off spacing your food intake out throughout the day- include things like fruit as snacks- I see no fruit is your plan!

Eg typical day:
Breakfast: weetabix with skimmed milk (you should have at least 2 to get your metabolism going for the day)
Snack: Piece of fruit, with yoghurt if hungry or small handful of nuts
Lunch: sandwich on wholemeal bread with low fat filling that contains protein and some fruit or soup that is vegetable based rather than creamy and not too high in salt
Snack: piece of fruit or some raw vegetables- have them with a low fat dip if hungry
Dinner: normal sized portion of something low fat and something containing protein and have lots of vegetables on the side

This kind of plan should mean that you have plenty of energy for exercise, aren't going hungry and you should lose weight.
1 meal a day is not enough you need to eat properly, breakfast when you get up, a small snack at lunch then a full proper meal with veg at tea time, maybe a piece of fruit in between, long as you get some exercise you will not be overweight, afterall do you really wanna look like Victoria Beckham.
thats silly coz all the weight uve lost while ur not eating ull put right back on again wen u start eating u need to change ur habbits stop eating all those bad things and get bk into a some kinda excerise or something dont stop eating ull kill urself and will b worse off in the long run
diets r stupid i think its about how offten u eat and kinda about how much but mainly what u eat!!!
dont b silly
im sure ur not fat not at 9 stone lol
