Thrushhhh!

I think I've had thrush about 2 or 3 times in my life. Rather itchy, quite red etc etc. But after about 3-4 days it just clears up. I have sex with my bf so could this be the cause? We've been having sex for about a year and a half and this doesn't happen regularly. Fact is i've never got treatment or anything but it clears up, is this dangerous? Or do I not even have thrush? I am very hygenic and so is my bf.

General info or advice would be appreciated

Are you using condoms with your bf? If not, theres a chance he could be re-infecting you everytime you have sex, even if he hasnt had any symptoms he can still carry it. Next time you get it, make sure you treat yourself and him at the same time, both of you should take oral medication if you think you need it.

Yes and like the post above says, underwear can cause thrush so make sure you wear cotton underwear (or with a cotton gusset) and avoid really tight clothes!!
the comment made by someone about your bf is spot on though - he should also get treatment because he might be harbouring it too.
if it is a recurrent problem see a doctor - it might be that its always there lingering and you have never properly eradicated it.

while you have thrush i think it's probably best if you do not have sex altogether until it is cleared up. and no outward symptoms of thrush doesn't really mean it may be totally gone - take some tablets in conjuction with a cream to make sure. and i agree with the comment for your bf to get checked.
