Scratched my instructor's car

I got behind the wheel again for the first time today since April. Prior to that I'd had 60 lessons. Anyway today was my first lesson in another instructor's car which I'm not used to - a Peugeot 206 petrol. I'd driven a Yaris diesel before that andloved it- the 206 felt really heavy and there was hardly a need for any gas but I still felt inclined to put the gas down. So anyway I was approaching a mini roundabout, stalled the car, rolled back and scratched the car behind...eeeek! Although the damage wasn't too bad, I still feel awful for letting this happen especially in my first lesson after a long time.

Was it dual control?

Because if so it was your instructors fault.

Yeah i was thinking exactly the same!

You instuctor should have either used the dual controls or the car behind was stopped way too close to you. I always make sure i give learners alot of room behind incase they do roll back at a junction.

Dont worry about it
wow 60 lessons and counting, u must have spent loads!

anywho, its entirely the instructors fault for not using his dual control.
you also pay extortionate prices for a lesson, just so he can have insurance to sort out problems like these, so you shouldnt feel awful.

Try not to worry about it, the instructor should have prevented that happening and it will be covered by his insurance. Don't worry about it and have another lesson soon, don't dwell on one mistake keep at it!

I dont see the problem in getting used to different cars.

What cars have you driven? When I was learning I found my mums & my instructors car totally different. Now though it's easy enough to drive any car really.

I've driven 4 cars and found all of them pretty different. They are Seat Ibiza, Ford Galaxy, Vauxhall Corsa and a Rover Metro. The Metro was the most difficult to drive, because the clutch was really difficult to get to the bite.

I managed to slice my instructors tyres when turning into a road! I felt really bad about that, even though he said it was your fault since he was too busy sneezing!:p: …and a couple days later he had to go for an operation to fix his sinus problem!

Phew at least I'm not the only one who's damaged a car.
