getting healthy

Although I don't look unhealthy on the outside, I'm 5ft 11 and 10 st 6, I really feel that I must be quite unhealthy.

I've never been any good at sport, as I don't have any co-ordination but I find I don't have any stamina either. I always feel tired, some days after school I come home and go to sleep for an hour or so and the problem at night time is I never go to bed before midnight, I don't know whether that is a mental thing as I've never been an early night person or that my body just isn't tired enough as I don't do much exercise.

My diet is appalling, I don't know why I'm not obese! I eat barely any vedgetables, literally once or twice a week at best and I don't get much fruit either.

Does anyone have any advise on how to give myself more energy? is it the sleeping habits, the lack of exercise or the diet?

you should try and get a good 8 hour kip a day

drink plenty of water this helps to dehydrate ur skin and ur clense your body!

you should try and eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, this is a lot easier than you think, with breakfast you could have an apple, with lunch a banana, then either a large portion of salad, or carrots n cauli or something like that for tea, and then a glass of fresh fruit juice (counts as one no matter how much u have).
So as u can see its alot easier than you think to clock up 5.

Exercise, altho u think it al knacker u, it actually realses chemicals etc than give you more energy
you could try a 20min brisk walk, or swimming, jogging, cycling etc?

hope i helped xxx

yer I have recently been trying to drink more water but sometimes I just forget, I'm hardly ever thirsty, I could cope with 2 or 3 glasses of fluid a day.

that does seem to be quite a low weight.

definately try and get down the gym, you'll feel and look loads better after even a few weeks of regular work outs.

a good balanced diet will be essential in tandem with a good fitness routine. the suggestions from the above posters pretty much cover it all.
Your bmi is about 20 which is at the lower end of the weight range but it is a perfectly acceptable weight so you don't need to lose or gain any weight.

I think that exercising regularly will make such a difference for you. It doesn't have to be the gym, anything that gets your heart rate up will help. Also being more active in everyday life would also be really good for you eg taking stairs not lift, walking to school/ college/ uni etc.

Maybe if you don't eat that much fruit and veg consider making your own smoothies and juices at home. You can buy a recipe book or just have a look online and they can help towards your 5 a day. And because you make them yourself, you can make them to be much healthier than shop bought ones (and it is cheaper!).

I know a healthy diet, lots of water and regular exericse may seem boring but you will feel heaps better for it I promise!
You probably don't feel so great because of your diet/lifestyle...

Also you could be Enemic (think i spelled that right?) or you might be Hypoglycemic.

I'm Hypoglycemic and Enemic so my blood sugar is always off...and my metabolism is very slow. So I know that for myself, if I don't eat properly I feel like sh*t and very lethargic. It sucks...but I just have to watch what I eat and how often.

Hope any of that helps, and of course excercise is a vital component of one's health.

forgot to mention that many of my Doctors have repeatedly told me that I should be having roughly 8/10 glasses of water a day...and tea or even water with some added juice does'nt count towards those 8/10 glasses.

Skip that nap after school. Drink coffee or red bull if you are really sleepy. If you get into a regular habit of getting up at 8am you WILL fall asleep at 11pm/midnight. For years I self-medicated with alcohol and weed to make me go to sleep at night, it doesn't work because you have a ****ty night's sleep. Read a book called "The Power of Now", it describes a meditation technique where you clear your mind of thoughts and drop off in less than 2 minutes, this is far more healthy than any depressive substance.

Closely linked to your sleep is the way you eat and exercise. Someone above me was good with the 5 fruit/veg thing, that's a decent guideline. Just try to eat more healthily, the odd snack or junk food meal is fine, just don't make it your staple. Exercise is especially important, it will give you more energy for the day and generally make you feel better about the world. highly recommend you find a method of regular exercise.

Good luck. Just do it.
