Of Mice and Men essay about Crooks

The controlled assessment question is the following:
'Explore the ways Steinbeck creates sympathy/dislike for a character in the novel'
I have chosen to focus on Crooks because he is the most character that we sympathise with due to his segregation. Can someone who's studied Of Mice and Men write me an opening paragraph to my essay or just a good paragraph that I can use. The paragraph must begin with a point, then evidence, then analysis, then explanation and lastly it must end with something about the context of the 1930's.

I'd say Curley's Wife is easiest to sympathise with. She's neglected and lonely. She's not even given a name. She's murdered, and the characters in the book blame her for that.
