There's the Paul McKenna way - go and get some daft sod to hypnotise you - or there's the normal way - to get used to them by seeing them more and more, touching them, or whatever - "conquering your fear" through exposure. Afraid there's really no other way of getting over it. But yeah, it's normal - as in plenty of people are scared of moths.

I know someone who's actually got a very similar problem with moths and bees/wasps, so it's not particularly unusual I'm fairly sure. It's actually quite coincidental, since I've been asked to catch a couple of moths in the last few days.

I'm not sure whether it would be particularly helpful, but perhaps ask someone to catch it in a glass and then just have a look at it, helping yourself to realise that they're really not that scary.

We all have irrational phobias though, and even if you consider this a particularly debilitating phobia (which it probably isn't, unless you encounter a lot of moths) there are methods of treating phobias such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy).
They cannot physically hurt you. They're so delicate that if much of their natural dust coating on their wings is knocked off, they can't fly properly.

Just consider how irrational it is to be scared of a creature so small, and ridiculously harmless!

Including me! I've always been scared of moths, but there was this one time where i went to the Sydney Olympics back in 2000 that made me even more terrified of them.
The stadium was bombarded with bogon moths (the large variety) and one of the moths must've been drunk or something because it flew and hit me near my ear.

I think i'll just have to live with the fact that moths freak me out because there's no chance in hell that i'll deliberately touch one.

just been to clean my teeth before bed, there must be at least 20 moths in the bathroom...

cant stand them, especially as one of the buggers flew right into my eye. grrrrrrrr

if you really dont like them, you could always light a candle in a dark room and see what happens....

I dislike all flying things because I am not in control.
Lizards, spiders, whatever else crawls round on the floor is not a problem, because I can avoid them, but anything which flies upsets me.
I hate moths as a consequence. Sadly I don't like killing things as I feel bad, so if they're in my room they tend to stay.

they are just ugly butterflies

I hate Moths to and scared like hell of them lol, dont liek any insects, or flying things (apart from birds)
i'm scared of them too, just close all your windows at night when the lights are on inside or they'll fly in. you could get one of those insect killers that gives them a tiny shock when they touch the light.

Aaah I hate them too!! I'm fine with spiders and most other insects but moths I just can't stand :frown:. The small ones I am now brave enough to bash with a rolled up newspaper, and I usually end up stalking them around my room or standing on my bed ready to attack them, looking like an insane person... As for the big ones, there really is nothing I can do except scream and run out of the room. So terrifying!

Tell that to people with arachnaphobia.
I'm the same I can't stand them when your going to bed so last night when there was one in my bedroom I wasted 40 minutes just trying to hunt it down and therefore wack with a magazine which I think done the job because I never seen it again.

I'm terrified of them too. A giant one flew at my face once in Austria.
I still have the nightmares.
Buy an insectocutor, like you see in food prep areas?

Seriously, I have a little of the same problem, in that I don't mind if they're there, but I'll flinch and swear if they hit me or come near me. Oh well, as people said you might be able to try to get rid of them.

Is it normal to be scared of Moths, i just hate them and since its summer and hot weather they're coming in the room like crazy. The small ones are bad but the huge ones are just hoffiying. I have to make a quick exit from a room whenever i see a moth and always go int oa big panic when one flies near me or touches me. Its like this with most insects eg spiders but especially moths, how can i get over it?

I'm scared of moths too, i found a huge one in the bathroom last night and had to be rescued by my mum. I have to teach myself not to scream when i see one cos everytime i do it flies at my face making it worse. My boyfriend thinks it hilarious, i've been really lucky this summer, my bedroom window is open 24/7 and i haven't had a moth in my room yet. I'm fine with spiders, last year i was called upon to catch and remove a lot of spiders from other peoples rooms in my house, but i'm the only one scared of moths.

I'm not usually afraid of moths but the other day I went to the kitchen at 12:00 am to get a drink. It was dark, I heard some the wing sound and suddenly it attached to my back and I couldn't reach it so I was running around the kitchen trying to get it off... Horrible feeling, expecially when I didn't know what it was.
Oh well, it's gone. Traumatic.

It is true you know, moths are completly harmless.

I can understand being sacred of bees, wasps and even spiders to a degree, but moths never do any harm.
Here's a story - i seen an albino moth (being serious here) in my kitchen the other night. unbelievable.
