We're the Model House of Commons, Ask Us Anything Watch

Yo, we're the Model House of Commons. Every six months, we run an election and elect a set of MPs, they then spend the next half of the year duking it out, coming up with their own ideas on how the country should be run, and then coming together to discuss and vote on the proposals.

It's a good bit of fun if you like politics, as it gives you the chance to come with your own vision, and it makes a change from all of the traditional politics forums you find all over the net. Absolutely anyone can get involved, they don't even have to be one of our MPs, all they need to do is head along to subforum linked above and give an opinion. You could even come up with your own ideas for us to discuss if you wanted, feel free to ask about that in here.

We decided we wanted to emulate our real-life counterparts in Parliament by being irrefutably annoying attention whores, and so joining Chat with an AMA thread seemed perfect for that.

I have no idea how this is going to go, so let's get started; ask away!

Just FYI, TSR hasn't actually told me you've quoted me into here, no idea if it's worked for the other MPs or not.

Same. Probably a technical error. It's a conspiracy.

What's the point? An MP will never answer a question honestly.

We're students, blessed with anonymity, who are interested in politics but haven't met the spin doctors. Why on earth would we lie?

Do any of you actually want to be politicians? If not, then why did you join

I'd like to be, but of the three main real-life parties I completely disagree with the Lib Dems and Tories and find Labour sometimes quite cliquey and too bogged down in constant campaigning rather than actually discussing politics. On here it's just a cool way of debating as well as competing, it's different from real life obviously but if your into debating and/or politics it's quite fun

I'd potentially like to if such a route in life were to arise, but if that were my primary goal I think I've joined the wrong party!

Personally yes, but my favoured party is non-mainstream and so my best shot at influence is on TSR for the foreseeable future- as are many of the grand goals us TSR users set ourselves!

From a lefty point-of-view, real-life Labour is a much better option than it was in say the Blair years. Miliband is open to our ideas, there are finally some real good young Socialists coming through like Owen Jones having relied on Skinner and Corbyn for about 30 years now, and the party is actually properly opposing some of the most naive, damaging and dangerous Tory policies.

For a young person/student you have a remarkable understanding of economics, I'm sure you'd be welcome, happy and go far here or in real life
