Change in course length partway through course?

(Not sure what this should be labelled as, sorry.)

My first choice offers the opportunity for an application to an Erasmus scheme between my second and third years, but I cannot apply to this until I actually start studying there, and my place on the course is not guaranteed. How will this affect my application for student finance and would I be able to change my loan amount in the future depending on whether or not I go on the Erasmus scheme? (I'm very keen to do so, so if I got in I would definitely go).
